I just ordered a 1 inch spacer for the edelbrock to help the air cleaner clear the coil and for other obvious reasons of putting a 1inch spacer in. My question is what adjustments if any would I need to make to the kickdown. Would it be best just to buy the Lokar kit? Currently still has the original kickdown.

Is it an original 4-bbl engine so the kickdown rod is the correct length? Do you have the Mopar throttle adapter for the carb?

Yes, the carb is already on the car and running

, im about to add the spacer , not sure if I need to make any adjustments to the kickdown to compensate for the extra height or just buy the lokar kit.

You may need to adjust the kickdown rod length or throttle linkage a bit, but I'm sure they'll still be usable. If it's all working now, no need to create more work for yourself with a Lokar kit IMO.

Why raise the carb? Just get some spacers to raise the base plate of the air cleaner. There should be some out there somewhere, other than the once that GM used on some of their later-60s pickups and such.

When you get the spacer installed under the carb, see how the normal-driving part-throttle shift points go. If they are raised too much, than re-adj the rod adj. a bit.

Just some thoughts,

If it's an insulating spacer then it also may help to stop fuel from boiling in the car after the engine is shutdown too. Win-win!

Just be careful with hood clearance and that carb air cleaner stud!

From what I read with the air cleaner stud, it's good practice to cut off the excess once you install it on the carb and measure it with the air cleaner and wing nut on. I think that was on the official manufacture's site when I had got mine for my new 2BBL carb. Although in my case I don't think I'd need to, since measuring my original premounted stud on the original carb yielded the same height as my new one in total, around 4 inches.

I came up with a quick way to measure hood clearance for the air cleaner stud. Find a smallish telecoping antenna. One for a kids R/C car transmitter usually works well, as long as it can unscrew from the transmitter. Or if you have a broken toy or radio, just cut the antenna off and keep it for this purpose.

Extend the antenna a bit and drop it in the hole in the carb that the air cleaner stud screws into. Now close the hood on it.

Totally agree! I have the lokar kickdown and throttle cables and they ar a complete pain in the ***!!!

Some play-do will do the same thing
