Anyone going?

About 8,000 cars this weekend. Syracuse Nationals

It's a bit of a funny story, I was approached to put a car in a Mopar display in one of the buildings about a week ago. I hadn't planned on doing anything other than maybe spectating, but this sounded like a good opportunity to get out of the sun and do something different with a couple old friends.

So, I'll have my Formula S Barracuda in the Horticulture building if anyone stops by. I have some other plans Saturday that I'm committed to, but the car will be there and I'll be around on Friday and Sunday.

Got the Barracuda in place this afternoon before the rest of the show cars hit the field.

Right across from me is @march

My old A12 Roadrunner is there... Yea, I know... I give him crap for hinging a repop hood, but it's hard for him to do the lift off.

Next to that is my late buddy Dave's car. His son has it now and it's the first time in many, many years that those two cars sat next to each other. It brought a tear to my eye to see them together again. You may recognize the car from its resto on Graveyard Cars.

Nice post John.
FYI, the info on that 57 Eldorado states that it was Sammy Davis Jr's car.
-And the folks that run the show expect about 9,000 cars this year. There are hundreds on the show field now, and the show hasn't started yet.
Who knows, they may set another record.

pic of yours?
LOL.. Never thought about it. It's behind the white Challenger and next to the Skaneateles fire truck in one of the pics above.

I'll have to grab one tomorrow.

Looks like an awful lot of original cars in the pictures --
When that show is billed as a "street rod show"...

I don't take a lot of pics. Honestly, with the amount of cars, as a friend said today it's "sensory overload".

I did grab a couple though.

Saw this and thought of @detmatt A Michigan tagged Imperial!

The guy that owned this was dressed in white and selling ice cream, but got busted by the NYS Health dept for not having the proper permit. I had passed him by a couple times earlier in the day and he got shut down after lunch... which was when I wanted an ice cream!

Too many cars to take photos of, but here's one that caught my eye. It's not a true police package / no certified speedometer.

This is just one of many reasons why I like this show:

-The gas tank on a friend's 55 Chevy Bel Air started leaking, so we had to get it out of the building; -the same one we're parked in. Our friend injured his hand on his trailer, so he was busy at a local hospital.
So, another friend and I drove it to a garage on the show grounds, specifically for old car repairs. They have tools and volunteer mechanics. Fortunately, they weren't busy. It took me 10 minutes to buy a new GM Authorized restoration tank from H&H Auto Parts, -one of many nationwide vendors at the show. This one was about 300 feet away. At $136, including tax and O-rings, it was far less than the same tank online, especially with shipping. NAPA, just outside the garage, gave us free 5 gallon pails to drain the tank. The new tank was in place and working in about 1 hour and I drove it back to it's original display spot in the original building.

C-body tanks are harder to find, but it's amazing what this show has.
It's like a car show city for 3 days. All on level ground, next to two: 6-lane highways.

I noticed a 67 & 69 Polara today, but didn't take photos because I didn't like the wheels. We still have 2 more days, so I'll try again since you're interested.
John won't be be there tomorrow, but I should be, if it doesn't rain too much.

I'm pretty confident that John would collect Polara pictures for me, if they were there.
Haven't seen any or I would. It's so many cars... and they really aren't in rows like other shows. There's some here and there.. It's a state fair grounds that goes back over a 100 years, so you'll see some in buildings (like mine) and some on lawns (gotta get there real early) some in parking lots and some that are parallel parked along the roads that wind through the grounds. Turn a corner and there's a bunch of cars. Walk down where the midway is and there's more cars. You can't see everything.

That Imp looks very survivory.

It was a very quiet day due to the rain. These are the C-bodies I saw on a quick walk:
