Cleaning an imperial

I used to watch videos of his. He has like a 50s VW bus. He was trying to weld new pieces of steel to heavily pitted, rotten sheet metal. I think he is someone who has money to play with cars but doesn't have much of a clue on how to fix them.
I like Derek from Vice Grip Garage with videos as he seems to know what he is doing

Listening to him talk is a real experience...not a real good one. I realize its part of his schtick, but a little goes along way!

As for me, I like watching Twin Stick Garage on YT. He has not one, not two, but three semi-tractor projects going simultaneously, and makes continual progress on those.

To begin with the vehicle itself was totally gone. No interior to speak of (imagine trying to duplicate the leather) It is obvious the engine is really in bad shape The best thing they could do is to strip it and sell the parts to someone who really wants to restore an Imperial.

The yayhoo did get it running. Sorta. And he knows absolutely nothing about Chryslers. Nothing.

are you talking about when he put a new carb on it?
He tried to start it by jumping the solenoid, while it was in drive, the ghost of Christine almost got him
That poor car, he isn't the first yayhoo to work on it though, did you notice someone used either a quadrajet or thermoquad gasket on a carter carb?
Then the new carb he put on it the "butterflies I think they're called" wouldn't open all the way
In competent hands it might have hope, that first start it wasn't rolling smoke or knocking,,at least not that you could hear over the exhaust
I just wish he'd put the back doors on it again, if he hasn't tweaked them that is

I quit watching it after the second "start-up" video. These two destroy everything they touch at their so-called "restoration" shop.

Did you notice his "manual choke" comments when referring to the choke pull-off on the intake manifold?

I just found "Nick's Garage" on YT. I'm liking his videos a LOT! Did three hours of binge-watching Sunday evening, and I dig the guys' approach to pointing out and fixing the pure **** work of others.

Nick talks from experience. I would trust him to work on my stuff.

Ahhh I'm loosing faith in Nick, **** work? How about the time he, oops... nope 'His Professional' R&R the rear glass on Kowalski 3 times before they got it right.
He sub's out a lot of his work, having his train'ey 'Tech' hammer in new cam bearings (with a claw hammer no less) and then there is the Dyno starts where others have criticized and wonder why he can't get it right the first time. But then that add's to the tube video length to make sure all the 'mid-stream' AD's get placed $$$.
Mailbag at the end of videos... scheech
At least he's the only one so far that I have seen that has reved a 440 up to 6,200 rpm on the dyno.

Ya know I'll cut him some slack for being Canadian, but ffs edit your vid's to be a little more professional.

Ahhh he's had some long distance kickbacks, I think there was a unhappy USA GTX owner that he had to eat the shipping both ways and I'm sure that's not cheap.

I'm kind of amazed this guy is fumbling so much with the drum brakes, to be honest - I concede that they're nowhere near as easy as discs brakes in terms of sheer parts, but if he would look at his FSM, that actually has a pretty detailed way of showing how to piece it together, deconstructed, front and rear...at least, my 1968 manual does.
Evidently, reading the comments here and on the YT video, this seems to be a theme - general ignorance of the machinery and a lack of commitment to the project. I won't try to judge because I never proclaim to be a super-mechanic, but if brakes are giving you trouble....hoooo boy...I'd hate to see him work on an engine.

The guy is utterly clueless. He thinks water circulates back to the transmission. They also hooked the radiator and wondered "what happened there?" The questions on the rear brakes were just stupid. I hope someone rescues this car from those fools soon.

As an owner of one of these magnificent automobiles, I resent this clod calling it a beast. He is like everyone post Gas Crisis One. Anything that does not look like a roller skate MUST be denigrated. These people are clueless. Why don't they stick with 327 Impala's and leave the true AMERICAN IRON to those that appreciate them.

Now your making me want to go and view his channel for some laff's, I'll bet the comments must be fun...nee (unless he's a deleter)
Think I took a geeez at his video line up, he likes and has some history with beetles & VW buses(?), when I saw that it was a close tab click.

There really are a LOT of good bits left on that car. Mostly body and about 90% of the outside trim. They ruined what was left of the interior by power-washing it all (minus the seats, which are pretty roached, anyway!). Haven't seen it move and drive...yet. It saddens me that they did such a dis-service to this Imperial. Yeah, it has a pretty good dent along the LF fender leading edge, and that dent on top of the RH side of the roof...and the busted-out RF door window. The total ineptitude and clueless-ness they display around this car just makes my blood boil.

Oh, well. I still have a feeling it is destined to be a derby car. It'll certainly go out swingin'.

Funny this had to pop back too the top and I just had to go for a look laff.

A relevant comment that's funny. (there's many)
"These video's are too painful to watch. Some people have no business owning tools."
