So, now staff is suppose to sit in judgement over what is civil and not in the for sale threads?
So what is it that moderators are supposed to do if not moderate?
not allow a comment such as "That is a piece of crap and you want way too much for it." ??
Strawman argument.
how about the ad that you guys don't find interesting enough to comment on as it gets pushed further and further down the list as you keep commenting on older ads, keeping them to the top?
Isn't that what is supposed to happen in discussion forums? The interesting threads end up at the top.
I'll let you in on a little secret. I have been discussing putting in a politics forum with a few members for some time, unfortunately every time the topic comes up, like in the above thread, a number of members just cannot help themselves from resorting to all the things I fear will happen with such a forum.

The political discussion here was no worse than with for example the B Body guys. Where the America thread failed you and the mods allowed (planted?) some fake antagonists to posts for at least the 2 years you referenced. You and the mods were triggered when you were called out on it. Hence the real reason America was shut down or as Stubbs so eloquently put it ...
some pussy got their panties in a wad about my comment about me having no love for pigeons!

Perfectly sums up what I wanted to post. Three people did nothing but poke the bear, and that bear finally called them names. They should be held accountable for their childlike BS antics as much as Dave.

One thing about excess pride is that it blinds one to many sides of an issue. There is also the long time tested rule that pride comes before the fall.

It seems there are quite a few folks here that have never worked for a large company or even government because this isn't a matter of just getting along. In order for a company to be profitable/successful it must produce state of the art products that consumers want to buy. That means they have to be smarter than their competition and hire well-educated folks who can work together in harmony to make that happen. One advantage of higher learning is that one learns very quickly that he is not the only smart guy out there but there are plenty others, so one's pride gets dealt with very quickly. I worked in the automotive industry for Chrysler as an engineer, and trouble makers got booted and guys that couldn't manage to work together in harmony also got booted quickly. Otherwise, the company would fail to meet its goals and be overcome by their competition.

This isn't a matter of being a sissy, or woke, or any other perceived personality characteristic. It is about being successful. That big Dodge Ram 2500 pickup that rolls off the assembly line with features that amaze and delight plus ruggedness and quality that endure is the result of a lot of hard work in concert throughout the corporation. The same thing goes on in government, even despite the behavior of politicans at the top of late, they also have to meet deadlines and develop programs that make the U.S. the most competitive country in the world and fix its problems under their control. There are at least yearly reviews of one's performance to ensure that programs evolve to improve matters that are important to our future and also to work with other nations in achieving a peaceful world, by and large. If you can't get along, you also get booted.

This site is a business and for it to also be successful, there also needs to be order, respect for authority and being able to avoid a lot of conflict that makes it unattractive - so trouble makers also get booted. There is another site similar to this one, called Allpar, but it focuses on more modern models of Chrysler vehicles and even very current news developments in the automotive world such as the progress of the Stellantis merger of manufacturers including FCA/Chrysler and their progress. In visiting that site also on a regular basis, it has evolved with the same virtually identical requirements as this also successful site. Folks must get along and avoid controversy and not engage in political discussions.

I often wonder how many folks here have anywhere near the competence, capability and knowledge to even put together a site as successful as this one that works so seamlessly with plenty of features that invite good dialog and still generate the funds to keep it operating well and prosper? I sure don't, and therefore even before I got in the door at this site many years ago, I had immediate respect for what Joey and his crew have put together. So when folks want to call the folks running this site into account for their decisions I believe it would be wise for us all to consider all the hurdles they face and have to overcome and the hard work involved before they find it so easy to criticize them - they are focused on this being a desirable site to visit in the long run and to be successful. Other sites also successful have the same guidelines and the large corporations that are successful and even govenrment have the same rules. That is because they work best.
Here’s something to think about for all of those offended and those who defend those who the ‘Defender’s’ (moderators) ‘protect’ by deleting posts (I dug this up from the web):

He defined false pride as a compensation for feeling “less than”. That statement defined my life. From early childhood, I was constantly seeking approval through actions or achievements. Just being “Michael” wasn’t good enough. I never felt OK. This resulted in my lifelong pursuit of success, so I would get approval from others. I was under the delusion, it states in the Big Book, that I could wrest satisfaction and happiness by managing well. When I lived like that, I could never get enough things or recognition to satisfy my ego. There would be brief moments of triumph and peace, but they would never last.

Someone came up to me after a meeting several weeks ago and asked how I could have problems, since I was a successful physician. I replied, “Being a physician was not enough to make me feel OK”.

When you are dominated by false pride, fear is a constant companion. I had fear of disapproval or not getting what I thought I needed to be a success. If I felt threatened, in any way about these things, I would get angry and have resentment. If I felt less than someone, I would compensate by judging them. I became a people pleaser and wanted approval, even if I did not like that person. I lived my life 299-1. Ed M. talked about this and made the point that 299 people could tell me how great I was, but if 1 did not, I would focus on that 1 and forget the 299.

I, of course, would like to be thought well of, all of us do, but I do not have to be dependent on others, anymore, to be OK. I have no control of what people think of me. I only have control of how I react and treat others. It is my job each day to do God’s business and God’s business is to take care of me. My self esteem is not dependent on things or what people think of me, but on how I act. I heard, at a meeting a long time ago, that we build self esteem through esteemable acts.

I still have to watch for false pride and not feeling good enough. That never goes away. But, with God’s help, I can ask him to help change the way I see any situation. I can practice with his help, love and tolerance. Today I feel OK when I am close to God and serving him and others.

LOL

How is it fair to allow a comment such as "Nice car! Great Deal!" and not allow a comment such as "That is a piece of crap and you want way too much for it." ??
..

One is a comment and the other is called "haggling", something that used in the market place that you don't seem to have a clue what the definition of haggle mean's, just like the definition of the word "banned"! So now we can't haggle for a good price on other peoples overpriced ****? That's what you just said above! Yeah, **** this place and the owners horse they rode in on!!

You made an executive decision and this decision was wrong. All you had to do was delete his posts with a note.

That's to complicated and troublesome for Joey or his henchmen, so he just says **** it, you're gone!

U nailed it stubs! Haggling is part of buying and selling I thought! U seem blunt to stubs if it offends me I will just ignore u. Not go cry to my Mother or a Moderator! What happened to being able to have a opinion??
And yes mods do have a place and a job to do. Not saying that.

Really doesn’t matter the way are country is going we aren’t going to be driving these cars much longer anyways. Look at the mileage taxes coming down the line in these 2 bills that are about to be passed! It’s all about control!
