Out running errands today.
88 degree and near 70% humidity at noon. Ya know, just like Carlisle in July. :D
The craziness started about noon today. I.E. a number of non street-legal cars and things in the street already.

It’s officially back as the big companies take over the parking lots up and down Woodward.
This used to be one of my parking spots. $10 for a reserved spot, with in & out privileges, all day and discounts on meals.
This is a scourge on the whole cruise imo. Hell, there’s a Ford dealership right down the street if I wanted to look at Broncos. They must be proud of their latest recall product. :realcrazy:

This is my cruise loop. 14 mile road to around 10 1/2 mile. The epicenter is 13 to 12 mile roads come Saturday.

I’ll bet they’ve been there since pre-dawn. Lot of guys sleep in their cars Friday night saving their spot for Saturday.

This ‘64 sounded real nice!

And my “must stop” when in the area. Al’s Famous Deli. Best pastrami in The “D” imo.
One of the neat things about Woodward is it hasn’t all been rebuilt to those antiseptic looking brick buildings as seen in the background. Much of it still looks like it did in my H.S. days. Lets just say, um, well before VHS!

Heading back later at night in the Monaco when it’s cooler.

I was out for a few short laps earlier this afternoon in the Imp and that might be all I needed. I was going to participate in the Berkeley Parade this evening as is tradition with my dad in his old Challenger convertible but he just called a little while ago saying he wasn’t up for it which is a bummer for me even though I was thinking it might be too hot for him. He is now 89 and Parkinson’s has a pretty firm grasp on him. I have no desire to be in the parade without him and tomorrow I may go out early for a bit but I will be done by 10 am.
This is a must see event for every car guy but I think I’ve had enough of it for now.

I hear you Matt. After I hit Woodward tonight I probably won’t bother tomorrow.
Sorry to hear about dad. I was able to get my Dad to one of the last mopar shows at the WPC Museum.

Never been to it. I'd have a hard time staying away if I were close.

Went back out on Woodward tonight. Very few interesting cars.

7:30 pm and still in the high 80s, add in four lanes of hot exhaust, makes the Monaco unhappy.
Notice all the daily driver cars on the road. Traffic barely moves. More than a few overheated cars.

Iconic old garage is now a very popular car themed restaurant.

Had to run down the side streets to cool the car down. Nearly pegged the temp needle a couple times sittin in that traffic.

10 minutes in the McD’s drive-through warmed things up again.
Tomorrow will be just as hot with at least four times the traffic. I’ll stay home tomorrow night and just watch on tv.

The Monaco looks fantastic but why is it running so hot?

It will run cool all day long even in that heat until it sits in that traffic for too long. It took 15 minutes to creep one mile last night. When I rolled down a side street and got some air through the radiator it cooled right back down in a couple mins. Maybe being a non-ac car with the smaller rad?

If you watch that insipid Channel 7 link, make sure you've removed sharp objects, rope, etc. Unless you enjoy watching 25 y/o beta-male weathermen and bottle-blonde traffic reporters prattle about '55 Chevy's and sock-hops. Stay with it long enough and you might get to see the Mayor of Liberalville (pretty much every Woodward community) discuss Pride Month and electric cars.

Last year's unsponsored and unauthorized cruise still had thousands of cars and was the best I'd ever gone to. What's funny was all the people proclaiming it a super-spreader event, and then not a word in the weeks following.

I think you guys should give Back To The Bricks in Flint a chance. I haven't done Woodward in 8 years now and love going to BTTb. They usually average a few thousand cars. Was there today and Mopar was well represented. Quite a few C bodies also and some very unique cars show up for this event.

I prefer the cruise-ins at local restaurants and bars. Come and go as you please, check out the rides and enjoy a decent meal. Culvers and Bakers are two of the best in the area. I typically avoid true shows and cruises like Gratiot, Harper and Woodward. Woodward keeps sucking me in though I’m sticking to the week nights prior to Friday now. The cruises get so crowded there is no place to pull off to park unless your club has rented a parking lot somewhere. Even the gas stations along Woodward Friday night were packed with people you could hardly get to a pump if you needed to refuel.
