In winter 2020, I had no problem finding a 26" SP CU332 radiator for Snow White, my EW1 white 1970 N-code Polara 'vert. The only issue at the time was cost -- there were wide discrepancies in the market place.

In spring 2021, when I went looking for one for my recently-acquired EB7 blue 1970 TNT 'vert, it took me three attempts to get the part. For the first time ever in my experience, Summit kept delaying and then was happy when I canceled my order; Amazon delivered a bent unit; and, thanks to @david hill, I managed to score one on eBay.

Well, the explanation is now out -- from Spectra's own website, where the company put out a release on June 9, 2021:

"Since the beginning of May, Spectra Premium has withdrawn some product lines in the Heating & Cooling and Fuel Delivery categories from the U.S. market.

To simplify knowing which products are available for your market, we have reassigned several Fuel Delivery product lines, such as Fuel Tanks, to the Undercar category. Please find below the active market lines for each market:

UNITED STATES

CANADA

Unfortunately, the CU332 is now Canada-only. What this suggests to me is that, if any non-Canadian member needs one of those rads, they may want to contact a Canadian member first and then arrange for shipping or (once the border reopens) local pickup during a show.

Thanks @ayilar. Fortunately, my re-core is holding up, but eventually I’d like a new unit. I refuse to put that god-awful and ugly aluminum thing in being peddled by Rock Auto.

Perhaps some Canadian members could take orders before the next Carlisle and bring a few rads with them?

Most likely its just economics. I'll bet their USA warehouse just isn't selling enough to make it worthwhile stocking some of their slower selling items. Making room for faster selling stuff.

I'm thinking that I would go with a Cold Case aluminum radiator and paint it black. I looked at their display at a car show and I think it would probably look as much OEM as a Spectra.

I've walked Spectra's plant before. Cool stuff, unfortunately I'm sure as others have mentioned it's a cost/warehousing strategy.

If anyone is desperate for one they can give me a shout, while I'm no longer in the private sector, my suppliers still honour my accounts.

Nick
