I just pulled the pkugs on my 3.7l jeep engine. It was running like a box of rocks and I discovered two of them were leaking at the insulator.

However, do those plugs look like they are coming out of an engine that needs to be topped off with 1qt of oil every 400miles???? Sometimes there is a puff of smoke when the car sat for a little but shouldn't that amount show up on the plugs???

They look pretty good to me. How many miles? If you are burning that much oil they would be blacker. Are you sure there isn't an oil leak? The tip is about 1/2 way so the heat range is OK. The iridium I've had looked like yours. I wouldn't worry about the dark around the insulator, it usually won't cause an issue. I've heard of oil problems with the 3.7. You should check out the pcv and some Jeep forums. My 2 cents. Craig

Yeah idk... I expected them to be pretty gunked up!?

I did a upgrade to the PCV system already. Those plugs are about 30000miles. Engine has 211k

Another givaway on the oilburn is, i sometimes get a code for 'rich condition' or that the catalytic converter is below threshold...

The plugs weren't fine, you could see burns creeping up. Put new ones in, runs like new again.

I have a little bit of a leak around the oilpan, hopefully not rear main seal. However, i never see drips on the ground!?
