1960 Dodge Dart Pioneer Hardtop Coupe

As the owner of a Pioneer and now a Phoenix, maybe you can answer a question I have.
I'm curious what the different options for the back window were called. When looking around online I noticed some have a much taller back window. Do you know what that option was called from the factory?

its called a sky high window. i have a roof and the glass and the trims if interested and the gasket

I'm glad it found a good home.
Yep, gotta be the same car. The guy we bought it from was telling us about the 60 Chrysler he sold when we picked the Dart up. We actually bought the engine he took out of the Chrysler too.

The Phoenix was the top of the Dart line and had what they called the "Opera" rear window. Also had carpeting and more chrome than the Pioneer and Seneca. The Pioneer was a step down from Phoenix and Seneca was the base model with no frills. All Senecas and most Pioneers came with six cylinder and standard transmission while some got a two speed torque flyte automatic transmission. Some Pioneers got the 318 V8 and 3 speed torque flyte Automatic transmission. The Pioneer I had in High School had the 318 V8 and 3 speed automatic. The Phoenix I now have has the 318 V8 and 3 speed push button automatic. Here are a couple pics.

Thanks for the info.

That is a beautiful car!!

So my dad just informed me that my Grandpa (lifetime mopar guy) owned a 1960 Dart that was turquoise. I know why I love this car so much :D

The 2 speeds were Powerflights. :D

Way to go on that new acquisition?
If nobody said it yet.....you're gonna need a bigger garage.
60-61 Dodges have great styling.. Can't wait to see it.

Yeah, I guess that's right. I think the 3 speeds automatics were Power flites too. Don't know when they changed to the Torque flite lingo. Probably when they went from Cast Iron cases to Aluminum cases.

We still have about 8 hours to go. Picked her up in Mississippi and ended up stopping at a hotel for the night.

That has been gnawing at me since I first saw the welcome thread picture... the 2 things that weren't adding up for me was I thought the seller loved this Dart, and I could swear he was fighting with an automatic transmission when we were there.

That's it then... How many 60 Darts and Windsors shared a garage in Meridian MS

Pic from my ride home... the straps around the car are to assure the front doors and hood stayed put... they latched, but didn't inspire much confidence. She's half apart now, and helping bring my New Yorker back. I only managed to think of taking a picture because I stopped at least a half a dozen times to patch a coolant leak... silly heater hose coupling at the intake pooed the bed and the plastic water control valve started to seep... never cooked her engine, but spent more time along the side of the road than I would have liked.

p.s. the burb looks pretty good since the white paint has been pressure washed away... this side of her wiped out the entire side of a white mini van and opened up the side of an white aluminum F150 while enjoying Orlando traffic and interesting merging techniques. She's been a good battering ram for me since the last benz was totaled in 08... outside of the dealer network, I couldn't bring myself to own something I couldn't get cheap parts for and fix in the driveway. I'll miss her when she finally leaves... but no plans for that anytime soon.

I had no interest in the 383 RB engine, and when he offered to keep it and drop the price, I jumped. The $250 he took off the Windsor seemed to me like more than the core was worth. As a curiosity, what are you planning to do with it? My main goal was to get the fenders to patch the front "eyebrows" on mine... the other stuff I'll keep is misc hardware and I have lots of spares now... most of it will available if you or someone else needs it.

BTW, I'm not sure having Scott and Wyatt vouch for you would be wise in most social settings, but two of my favorite folks around here... :poke::rofl:

The guy we bought it from definitely loved this car. We could tell he really didn't want it to go, but we promised to keep him updated as we finish it.

The Windsor looks very cool. I'm a sucker for Patina and fins.

Its always good to have a battering ram for a hauler!
We had a close call with a semi going through Memphis on the way home. My husband's driving skills is what saved us from kissing the wall of a bridge or the semi itself. I was more concerned about the car getting damaged than myself in the moment.

I have no idea what the plan for the engine is. @BLIMP likes to buy engines and then find cars to put them in  He could probably let you know if there's anything we need for the Dart....he went over it a little bit when we got home and did notice some mis-matched bolts.

I'm not too concerned with Scott and Wyatt vouching for me, its @Xenon I sometimes question claiming in public

This is such a cool car! I’m not much of a forward look guy, but when I first saw the for sale ad I needed to see more, so thanks for posting! I love that clock, I thought it was a compass. What will the body color be?

So, @60DartChick, if you already know all these blokes, what took you so long to join in the fun here at FCBO? Welcome!

I thought it was a compass too...very unique! Going to keep the body black and make the interior black/turquoise.

This is technically my first C Body.....we own several but the others are all my hubbies projects. The Dart I'll be doing a lot of the work on myself.
