Hey, new guy here.
I've really been a Chevy guy all my life until now.
My son bought a 1965 Imperial Crown 4 door hardtop.
It's kinda been a pain in the butt since we got it with some fuel and electrical things.
It's got some issues but it's growing on me.
Currently it will start up and drive. it needs some brake work among other things.
I will be reading and studying to find out ways to fix this dang thing.
Anyway, check out the pics and wish us luck.

Nice looking Imperial! You southern guys are lucky to have that rust free sheet metal down there. A factory service manual will help you along with the work you need to do. It's so nice to have something like this to share with your son. Have fun!

Thanks, I downloaded a pdf copy of a service manual. It's 624 pages.
I've been referring to it and researching it.
The po had installed an electric fuel pump and a few other things that needed attention.
I had to find a pushrod for the mechanical pump and I installed it and new fuel line from the tank to the carb.
Rebuilt the Carter AFB, new starter relay (twice), new ignition switch and key cylinder.
I found some bad connections at the firewall fixed those.
The power windows don't work, the ac doesn't work, the door locks don't work, the radio doesn't work, the antenna is stuck in the up position, etc...
It needs a brake rebuild pretty badly.
Like I said "wish us luck". :D

It has a few rust spots on the doors where the weep holes weren't draining.
Otherwise it's pretty good.
A few other spots here and there.

Great looking Imperial, you can do it, just take one thing at a time.
You have found a good resource for info and help.

Nice Imperial, I bought a 64 back in Dec with a lot of the same problems, it's even white
I have gotten the 2 front windows working,
No fuel problems, but a leaky transmission, and a really weird glitch with the gauges
Good luck with your Imperial, I'm sure you'll get it sorted out

Welcome from the Motor City! Nice Imp!!

Welcome new guy! I was the new guy about 2+ years ago, and these fine gents on this site have been invaluable in helping me with that 67 Newport. Now I have a "new" '65 New Yorker they are helping with. You are in good company my friend.

What do you guys think about the disc brake conversion kit from TheRamMan?
I have no personal experience with him but I haven’t heard anything good lately. I always think though that people get vocal about negative experiences but don’t often post about positive experiences.

I called and talked to a lady on the phone that was very knowledgeable and helpful.
I was thinking about pulling the trigger on one of their kits.

Welcome to the group and it's great to see a nice Imp find a good home. You also want to look at www.imperialclub.com One of the earliest internet car clubs, VERY valuable for Imperial owners. Main thing I'd advise on brakes is to get your current system into good order, adjusted, aligned before abandoning it. Getting OEM style shoes also made a difference. There is more information on brakes for these cars on the Imperial Club website. Good luck!

Yeah, I've seen used drums selling for $400.00 a piece. :wtf:

Welcome! I drove a '64 Imp 4-door once; those things are tanks!! Hope your son enjoys it!

413 motor is terrific too!

Welcome from Maine! Love the shape of that car and the color suits it. I have heard some bad things about the Ramman recently also but have no direct experience myself.I would investigate swapping discs with oem Mopar stuff. Some things are Imperial only though.
