My dad I had it done home to save money just dashes would of charged a lot plus they do not reproduce dash pads for my '61 any more

This may be a stupid question, but how did you restore the dash pad at home? Method, material, equipment?? Any info would be appreciated. Pictuers and/or video would be phenominal!!
