Overheating problem with Madeline

I NEVER HAD a problem with a warped housing, though I am sure it happens but the billet ones are pretty...

You need to salvage summer Mark, hope you get it together

summer is pretty much gone......remember, i didn't get the car until the beginning of august.

that being said, this is the type of BS that drives me to sell

Well when you take it apart put a straightedge across the surface and see if it's warped.

I've never had a billet aluminum one leak.

i don't have a straightedge........they are hardly ever perfect, hence the need for the form-a-gasket

Can anyone offer any guidance on what i should do tomorrow to try to stop the housing leak? Right now I have a thin layer of form-a-gasket on both sides of the paper gasket, leaks both in the front and back, not near the bolts. leak is minor. should i use 2 paper gaskets instead and no form-a-gasket? should i try to set the thermo in the housing with some permatex before i seat it? Will that matter?

more than likely i won't be driving it til fri afternoon so it should have plenty of time to cure as necessary.

I recommend the following...has never failed to work for me:

1) check housing and make sure its flat (I know that you've been talking about this but wanted to make sure)
2) Clean surfaces.
3) Use Permatex silicone gasket maker with the paper gasket. (blue or black have both worked for me in the past)
4) Bolt it together and you're set.

By the way I bought a cast iron replacement thermostat housing that was made in China once that was easily the WORST casting I've ever seen..I was in a spot though and had to use it...so I test fitted it...had to redrill the holes to ensure they'd line up and not bind...also had to grind down the mating surface until it was flat. It's on my Imperial 4 dr and works fine after my surgery on it and the procedure used above.

You're sure you scraped the top surface of the water pump housing down to shiny metal?Don't use 2 gaskets whatever you do and make sure you are using the proper torque spec. Check the billet aluminum thingy for flatness by laying a sheet of 150 grit sandpaper on a hard, flat surface like a granite countertop or a thick glass shelf and rub the housing on it a couple times. Check and rub till uniform.

Ok, think we're done with this problem......got it together and ran it off and on the last 3 days........no leaks, seemed to get a bit warm for a time yesterday but just over the halfway mark, that was it. it seems this car runs @ the halfway or slightly below it. So I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's fixed.

And I had bit of help putting it back together too:

Now, lose the red hoses

One thing @ a time.....i'll get there. i also have a nice used washer pump/reservoir i'm going to install, and I will prob replace the overflow tank as its so dirty its hard to see the level from the outside.

Someone bought that EV2 Polara, it is heading to Nebraska, for the price of two grand....

He posted it on Moparts that he was looking at it. Every swinging D*&k jumped on the opportunity to spill out every drop of information that they could muster that myself and the Yahoo Polara board put together.

So I added a little more just for flex and sent him a host of photos via e-mail. He may be interested in my NOS Super lite Grille, what the hell, I aint using it
