Overheating problem with Madeline

maybe now it will get worked on and brought back to life

geez, for 2K i would have been a contender, leaves a lot of $$ for parts

Funny thing is he and another guy are saying it was listed for cheap. He had the guy on the hook for fifteen and couldnt put the deal together just then. So he didnt get it. I NEVER remember that car being listed for 2500 do you?

I have a feeling this guy may actually take the time to do the car. He knows about the frame rails and is understanding that he will be upside down as soon as he put gas in it, yet, he still wants it.

Maybe, just maybe there is hope

no, the cheapest i ever saw it list for was $6000......and apparently he is in for a surprise if the current owner is still lying abt 'not seeing any frame rust'. Maybe he has never looked under the car. He knows exactly what it looks like underneath though, he saw that pic on the dock.

I still want a console 440 car, prob will never get it. This car won't draw any looks due to its color.

don't know abt that........kinda flip flopping, i want to somewhat, but on the other hand I have a basically unmolested car, most of the time that would command me to leave as-is. and then there is the problem of finding linkage and the correct column.

what shape is your console in?

It is O.K ... I had to replace my column and got one from Murray. I am certain he has one from a 300 that will work fine for you

What did you do to stop the the therm housing from leaking? Picture(s) please.

Did you say the temp needle is in the middle of the gauge?

it stays pretty much in the middle or slightly below the middle. Dunno what temp that is as the gauge does not have numbers on it, prob between 180-200 if i had to guess.

I haven't taken any pics of it, but here's what i did: ran the housing across a pc of sandpaper like Matt suggested. I also sanded the pump housing good until i could not feel much other than a flat surface. Let it sit overnight to ensure it was fully dry then used form-a-gasket to put a thin bead fully around the pump housing sfc and the thermo housing sfc, let it sit for 10 mins then flattened the paper gasket on good making sure to squeeze the form-a-gasket out good to fill in any open areas/air pockets. I then placed the thermo housing on top of the paper gasket and pressed it flat as i did with the paper gasket then bolted it down. i let it sit overnight, maybe 20 hrs to cure, then put the hose back on, topped it off and started her up.

And didn't replace the red hoses while you had it drained down....what are we going to do with you Mark.

that's ok, shouldn't lose much removing them anyway. Naturally you guys didn't bother ragging on that on spite until after i had it back together!

At least i am doing what I usually do - leaving the car in better condition that when I got it. Maybe i'll let it for the new owner to replace.

He posted it on Moparts that he was looking at it. Every swinging D*&k jumped on the opportunity to spill out every drop of information that they could muster that myself and the Yahoo Polara board put together.

So I added a little more just for flex and sent him a host of photos via e-mail. He may be interested in my NOS Super lite Grille, what the hell, I aint using it
The Best and the Brightest on that car is right here yet he needed confirmation from those idiots. Makes no sense.

If you haven't ran the heater on high and hot it could be trapping some air in the heater hoses and the heater core.

And again, I would take the radiator cap off after it cooled to make sure the radiator is full. Can't trust the recovery tank to work 100%.

tank is working fine........all 3 times it was a bit more than half full after shutting down hot, a few hrs later it was under 1/4 full and a bit spilled out of the cap, it was so high.

good idea on the heat though, i'll try to run it tomorrow.

Stan getting tolerant? Must be getting old or just finally got so exasperated you are giving up.

I'm giving up on a lot of things.
I might even become a Walmart People.
Does it really matter if I care about where this country is going?
Of course not. I'm getting robbed blind by everyone else and that's the way it is now.
