Yeah, I know, Odd thread title.

Anyway, I tried to get someone to critique this car 6 months ago. No one likes my "not mine" adds I guess.

NOT MINE - 1973 newport navaho 3400

I would like some opinions about this car. I don't want to muddy up the new guys ad that he posted. Don't want to scare away a mopar guy from the site.

Is the carpet an easy item to purchase?
How difficult is the one piece of trim on the rear passengers door to find?
What is the deal with the heating systems in 73? Is this one likely to work?

Thanks.
I don't know why I could not find that. I knew that I had posted somewhere on a thread about this ride. But when searched this thread did not come up. Only a handful of other ones.

I just tried again and no such luck. I must be doing something wrong.

In any case, it sold for 2500 bucks, but stayed at the same location. So, no sale. at 2500.

I would think that was because it had no title at that time.

Wait, I just figured out what was going on with the search.

It's the difference between JO and the HO.
How fitting.

From the other thread it has come to light that the Marv Berry dealership was in Harvey Illinois.
Perhaps I am wrong about the rust. Being from that state I would expect rust that is never seen in Colorado.

I like typing to myself.

Seriously though, reference for later when I am trying to talk myself out of buying this specific car......again......

This quote to start.

My first impression is that any special items like carpet, trim or interior specific to the spring special will be particularly frustrating to find. This one looks like it has a mismatched paint job on that right side s well. Maybe a $2500 car, but then again, in need of repairs. Didn’t a 4 door Navaho recently sell for $7500 in much better condition? I think that a lot of these were made and survived nicely, you just have to be ready to pounce when they come up for sale. My 2 cents….

To be blunt, you can research and answer those questions pretty easily yourself... But, in order of your questions, this will get you started:

Carpet can be found here: Auto Carpet for Car, Truck, Van - Stock Interiors BTW, As has been said many times here, ACC carpet is the only vendor making molded carpet these days, so it comes down to picking a reseller. Get samples before ordering to match color.

Download a parts manual here: Parts Manuals – MyMopar Figure out the part number and start doing some searches. You might hit a NOS part right away or you may have to spend some time searching for a good used piece. You will find one eventually with some diligence, but don't place a lot of weight in deciding to buy the car or not.

We have no idea what "heating system" is in the car. It could be a simple heater/defroster only or the run of the mill manual AC/heater/defroster. It's only when you get into the automatic systems that you run into problems. This involves first asking the seller about how it is equipped.

You can do all this research, but until you actually look at the car and get an idea of what it is going to sell for, you won't know much. Myself, I'm confused if it's the same seller from the first $2500 ad or if it's being flipped by another seller.

As @Samplingman alluded to, you may find one of these in better shape for more moneyand you may be $$$ ahead not having to do repairs/restoration.

You can be blunt with me. I get it.
I realize I can research things like carpet, but with all the vendors, it helps to hear it from an expert.
Also, I did not understand that the navajo was a spring special. Therefore making the specific parts difficult to find.
I would assume then that the outside trim piece is a standard piece on 73 newports. Of which I have never owned or even seen one drive around in any town.

I have to consider the car because it is cheap and close.
Here in the mountains of Colorado, there is no close about anything I find and buy. Not parts, not cars.
