So hypothetically if I whipped out the Visa card and wanted to replace the entire exhaust system on my 70 Newport, am I at the mercy of the local parts stores or is there a vendor who I could find online?

Great question, I dont believe they would have pipes available but I could be mistaken. Custom shops can do something for you easily, with whatever size pipes you want.

Hypothetically, you could whip out the visa and:

- find a good exhaust shop and they can plumb a complete dual exhaust system for you. Just be sure to tell them what you want and/or supply some of the parts yourself (I got the mufflers, cheaper than my shop could get same).

- there's an vendor that sells entire pieces they ship to you and you bolt it all up yourself (I think they are in NY somewhere). Guy with a 66' or 67' New Yorker on youtube has this....sounds damn good.

To my knowledge the only bad part on mine is the pipe right ahead of the muffler but it would be nice to start fresh. I took it on a highly illegal run down the road this afternoon. It was like greased glass. I floated on air and steered with a pinky. A little ragged sounding with 3 or 4 pinholes ahead of the muffler.

Just after I got my first Polara the pipe broke just ahead of the muffler.
A buck twenty later I had a new muffler and pipe to the wye, installed.

There's is many options......you just have to do your homework and find the right shop. I had dual's and Flowmaster's at a local shop........$370 installed.

+1 just drag it to the muffler shop. I was driving once and lost a pipe from the cherry bomb back to the tip,,,it came out from under the car end over end and went about 40' in the air, then landed right in front of the guy behind me..... I kept driving.....

so anyways, the muffler shop just put a new cherry bomb on it and then bent up some pipe and welded it back on right then..maybe $150 and about 1hr? it wasn't that pricey or time consuming...
