Well, I bought another Formal. A 1978 Newport. Kind of an odd duck. Has optional 400 with TQ. No tilt or telescope. No clock. Upgraded best interior. No power windows or locks. AM/FM radio, no power antenna. Optional vent windows, rear window defogger and 100 amp alternator. It has manual A/C and cruise control. 56,000 miles. Lean Burn still works (barely). Minimal rust. Body wise it is in 1000 percent better condition than my NYB. Mechanically it needs a few things, power booster, 727, exhaust. KY4 Golden Fawn which is a yellow with green stripes, vinyl, carpet, and interior. No passenger mirror, no cornering lights, no skirts but I have skirts that I can paint (need the rear skirt mounting hardware).

An old lady who died last year bought new in 1978. The guy that I bought it from bought from her estate sale a couple of weeks ago. It's only been driven twice in the last 20 years. The tank has been dropped, flushed, and new hoses installed. I'm dragging *** today so I didn't conduct a thorough inspection.

Hopefully I'll have it ready to bring to Carlisle.

I love it including the color combination. Like I tell my girlfriend, "What I own may not be the newest but it IS taken care of". Hope you have many happy years with it.

Nice car Bob! I love the plush interiors on these cars, always have.

Oh, and enjoy the lean burn system....:poke:

I'm going to try to get the LB to run right first and convert it to conventional electronic ignition as a last resort.

Congrats Bob, you gotta love survivor cars! Can't wait to see it in person!

Congrats Bob, can I go back and change my vote to all the above I just got a new found respect for formie newports

I can hear the neighbours already......... Now he has two tanks??? :frustrated::frustrated:

My neighbors were worried that I was moving when they saw the empty trailer behind my truck last night........

They may want me to move since I have 40' of Formals. LOL!

I am truly surprised ..... I really didnt believe another formal was coming..........

I wanted that 73 Imperial but the guy wants $17,000 for it. Now he isn't sure that he wants to sell it. I sent him a picture of the Newport....he hasn't responded.

Congratulations! She's a beauty. Love the color combo - only in the 70s!

That interior is so plush that it's unbelievable. No wear on the seats or carpet. I don't think anyone has ever sat on the rear seat.

How come some of these posts don't have the "Thanks Button" available???

Boy, that is one weirdly optioned car. And a color combo that I haven't seen before.

What was it about this car that made you pull the trigger, Bob?

The body is pretty good condition and I like that Golden Fawn yellow paint. I love the material the seats and door panels are made out of. It was a very interesting car so I just pulled the trigger.
