Brilliant move today crushed the lip around my right side control arm when pressing in the bushing. My socket wasn't deep enough and ruined it before I realized it. Anyone have an extra one laying around?

Bring it to someone or a shop that has a torch set.
Heat it up red and hammer it back, dunk in water....

Really I figured I ruined it. My cousin has a torch big enough to make it red. I'll give it a shot.

If you cant fix the one you have I have one from a 65 Newport.

that's great Bob thank you I might be taking you up on it two metal shops have .turned me down. I'm going to give it a shot myself.

C body Bob has saved my butt. I have depleted my local resources, of who I thought might be able to repair my control arm. There might be someone who can fix it but at this point Bob made my decision easy. :eek:ccasion14:

Thanks C Body Bob. I received my "new" control arm last week and pressed out the bushings and cleaned it up this past weekend. I am still waiting to remove the ball joint, the guy I was going to borrow the socket, for the removal, is on spring break I believe. The bushings came out of Bob's control arm easier than my old one so I am hoping the ball joint is cooperative too.

Finally I got a chance to work on my car, took Friday off. The ball joint came out like butter, with my cousins three quarter impact wrench and oversized compressor hose. Now the suspension is going back together. I'll post so pictures later.

go man go!

I took off a Friday a couple weeks ago and did the same thing. wait til you are driving it again - its lovely.

make sure your alignment guy puts it at the spec you tell him,, my camber is pretty much '0' and I don't really like it.

glad you got your problem solved but I can't understand why no one would fix the old one for you looks like a easy repair, If it was mine I would have fixed it in a heartbeat

I wish you were local but it all has worked out.
