Hello everyone,
well I had to set up a new id as I forgot my old one.:BangHead: So I am not completely new to the site just a new Id. I just picked up a new vert as I have a 1970 polara 440 vert that is an original 440 car and original HIC of EV2. It is a project but well worth it and I will get it back on the road once I find a good rust free front stub to stick under it. So if you have one let me know.

But back onto the topic here. I just picked up a 1969 polara 500 vert that is an original 375 horse 440 car. B7 exterior, B7 interior, power buddy seat and the tag is also coded for a B7 top! The car has a white top and I was told by the granddaughter it was the original top and Polara71 (who has been VERY helpful for me on my V2 vert for info) told me he was positive you could not get a blue top in 69. The tag is coded B7 3 times. Anyone have any input on this if it could have been a factory error as it was coded for that and it was not available?

then my other question is does ANYONE have any info as to how many 440 equipped 1969 polara 500 verts could have been made? I can not find it anywhere. I can find it for the 70's but not 69's let alone the 69 500's. Any input would be great. Thanks again!!

Welcome back...................... I am certain you couldnt get it in 1970.... 1969, I am much less versed in but I still believe it wasnt available but look for someone to prove me wrong. I need to know for certain too.

Hello,
I am thinking it must have been a factory error on the tag as the car has a white top on it and she said she is 100% sure her grandfather never put a new top on it but the tag sure looks like it was coded for B7. :eek:s_dancing2:

The 69 tags are much different than the 1970 tags, in my experience anyway.

It should have a V3 code for the top, shouldnt it? W for white or X for black... any build sheet? Top color may not be on the tag.

So you couldnt resist and picked up this one too...? Good for you man.......

Great color combo either way. According to my book it should have a V3 code for the top.

I am sure there will be a sheet in it when it gets here as I have to ship it in. the interior has never been out of the car so there will be a sheet somewhere in there. fingers crossed! And one in better shape than the one corner of a sheet I got out of the EV2 polara vert! On the tag what would the third B7 be for? I too am not real familiar with 69 tags and this one does not show the top color then as it does not have the V3? on it. Most likely is coded for white then on the sheet. It is just that third b7 is really strange to me??

Yes I could not resist on this one. I was going to pass on it as the outside looked so rough but as I sat and looked at the pics you could tell it was sun burn and surface rust mostly. So I asked for some underside pics just to see and trunk pic and I was actually shocked at how solid it actually was. Frame rails SOLID. Floorpans all still solid and not rusted through, even in the back and the turnk still had color there when they pulled the matte back. So I had to do it. Plus I got it down to $2K and being a complete 375 horse car and I mean COMPLETE, the engine and trans with carb and dist were worth close to that for me even if it was a complete hulk when it gets here. Plus it has some cool stuff like superlite and the power buddy/bucket seats. I just know you never find these 375 horse drop tops so I had to do it.

Shoot my uncle has a 69 coronet rt vert and go thinking about it was this really the only other option you had to get a 375 horse 440 in a convertible in 69 was a C body?

Roadrunner was a 383 only
Satelitte was a 383 as the biggest engine
Dart 383 was largest
super bee no vert available
charger no vert available
C bodies yes but in very limited #'s

It's the second B7 that I'm confused about, that would normally be the roof color on a non vinyl top car. The 3rd B7 is the interior upper door frame color and the M6B is your blue bucket interior.

I've seen this several times.......the B7 in the middle of the sheet is as Matt said, but if you look @ 69 tags they often have the exterior color listed twice as this tag does. Usually it is when there is only a 3 character trim code. no idea why.......

Great find, from the numbers I have seen there were 573 polara 500 verts made in '69, cannot be more than a handful made with the 440 HP. I don't remember ever seeing one. There is a '69 listed on the charlotte CL but no tag pic...........perhaps this is the same car? If it is, top is white.

Yeah Mark, It is the same car

got it.......I like the 69 but am more interested in seeing the EV2 car on the road!

The first and second "B7" codes just indicated top and bottom body colors. Although it didn't pertain to convertibles it was sometimes stamped anyways. (UAW). The 3rd "B7", as Matt pointed out, indicates the interior door trim color.

On a 69 tag the codes for the convertible top color were V3W for white, V3X for black and V39 - special order. Not sure what special orders were avaliable.

As for production numbers ..... There are no breakdowns by model, style or trim levels of the 117,152 Polaras and Monacos produced in 1969.

Bad part is on the ev2 car I need a whole new front stub as the one in it is rusted and the 300 hurst I parted out for the stub I just learned won't work on a 70 vert. So if anyone has a good stub for a 70 vert let me know.

Yeah and why wont it work? There is a 1971 Polara four door stub under the front of this car and the builder says it bolted right in. So EVERYTHING I read and hear I take with a grain until I do it

That is good to know!!

There is a recent interesting thread on these pages on Stubs..... read it and try and figure it out. From the photos I took earlier of the 1970 and 1971 frames I am even more confused than before.

You wont have trouble locating a frame if thats your choosing. They are out there.
