So I have 1966 Polara with a 318 Poly. Car originally came with a stromberg carburetor. When I bought the car in 2004 the carb was rebuilt. In 2007 I replaced it with a Holley 2280. I honestly don't remember why. I can only assume I was having issues with the stromberg and went with the mechanic's recommendation.

I have been having doubts about this Holley carb. Haven't been able to fine tune it to a point that I'm happy with. I still have the old stromberg carb and was toying with idea of having it rebuilt again and putting that back in.

Today, the car stalled out on me and when I got it restarted I found the reason for the stall. Fuel was coming out of the vent tube onto the manifold. Scary. I assume there's a problem with the float or the needle.

Now here's where I need the advice.

Option 1. Fix whatever's wrong with the Holley.

Option 2. Rebuild the stromberg.

Option 3. Get another carb. There are 4 different ones that are supposed to fit my application from Advanced. They are all "Autoline" brand. Says made in Canada. They range in price from $158 to $450.

Questions:

Does anybody have experience with Autoline carbs?

What's justifies such a wide range in price for carbs from the same company?

What would you do if you were me?

Here's the links to the 4 auto line carbs:

Thanks in advance (pardon the pun).

Easy fix - rebuild the Stromberg - I think it's a WW.

The carbs in the photos are Strombergs too.

Rebuild the one you have.
Except....
If it's a WWC. The rebuild kits are incorrect for the Mopar versions despite what is listed on the applications for the kit.

Three votes for the original stromberg and none for the Holley. I guess others think its as much of a POS as I do.

Stromberg is being rebuilt. Costing me $140. I have no point of reference on this price. A kit costs $22-25 (plus shipping) online. I assume it's a couple of hours of labor, no?

I can rebuild a Stromberg WWC or Carter BBD in 30 minutes. Carter AFBs would take me an hour. AVSs - an hour and a half. Seventies Thermo-quads - 2 hours to a million years, depending if the throttle body is warped.

Holleys of any type - forget it, I'm not god - I scrap junk like that for aluminum.

Rebuilt Stromberg WW Carb

Looks good. The proof of the pudding will be in the tasting. I found this guy on the Miami river. Does a lot of carburetors for marine applications.
