you mind find a dash.
But a white steering wheel is one of the impossible to find parts.
You need to get yours restored

Thanks. Those guys are here in L.A., close to me. I will see if they will re-do my dash, door panels and steering wheel. Hopefully, it won't be a fortune! :)

When I saw L.A. I aw Louisiana not Los Angeles

I have no idea what Just Dashes will charge but I have a good idea

Dash Pad $1200

Door panels? not sure that is something they do, http://www.smsautofabrics.com/ does and if I recall they were $1200 EACH

Steering wheel? again not sure if is something they do. The common fix for these is to take a good wheel and paint it, it will not have that translucent look. I do not see how you could repair a wheel and have that.

I have a lead on a source that will make a NEW wheel that is the proper translucent material. I have seen a 1966 wheel that was done and it was perfect, $1200

Welcome to the world of hard to get.

I am currently working with a vendor that is making me a new dash pad on my core, not a reskin that Just Dashes does, $750.

DMT is working on foam and insulation for this car, I should have the first round of parts soon.

What is your plan for this car? I think it was originally a Santa Clara County car.

Did a steering wheel twice as per instructions found on the web. They turned out beautifully. They were
solid colors so I sprayed by hand, shot four coats of Varathane plastic paint and two coats of clear.
Still like new with no scratches or marring. If you can find it, it has to be plasticoat paint. Good winter
project. My interior was ordered through the link below. They have templates for most cars including my 65 Fury.
They were exact replicas right down to the texture. I believe it cost me $789 for the front and rear panels
and mine are quite fancy and a bit complicated. They will send samples and a written quote for free so there's no mistakes. Check out:

Thanks everyone. I have wanted a '69 Polara police special for over 20 years. I finally got one! I know getting some parts will be like finding a unicorn, but I am up to the challenge! Today, I will "inventory" the car and write out what it needs. I can't wait to dig in.

Since my car had the CHP package, but wasn't used by CHP, I'm going to do it all black, like an unmarked unit. I don't want to make a clone car. I want to have a driver. I might even massage the engine for more power, but I won't make changes that are visible.

SMS will be the way to go for the door panels. Just Dashes might do them. I recall them asking me about my door panels as they did a lot of work for me for my '65 300. I told them SMS did them and I think they told me they could have done them. As for the steering wheel, I wouldn't paint it. Every steering wheel I've seen that was painted eventually chipped. I used Quality Restorations (http://www.qualityrestorations.com) in Poway, CA. Using your original, he recasts the wheel using modern materials that he guarantees to not chip, crack or fade for as long as you own the car.

I was very pleased with all three vendors. SMS took a little longer than expected but it was worth the wait. Just Dashes is a little expensive but I'm a big believer in you get what you pay for. I've also heard stories about them taking very long but we have an advantage being in LA. If you are going to use them, I recommend dropping the stuff off so they remember you and are aware you are local. All of my stuff was ready on time and was of high quality.

Good luck with your project! Have you posted pics?

I have a killer nice black dash in the 69 polara 500 parts car I bought, thing looks brand new. I was on the fence about selling it as my 69 vert 500 is an A/C car but I was thinking of taking it off when we redo it as I am not a huge fan of A/C on verts as it is just an expense and the top will always be down. Bad part is I can not find an A/C 69 polara dash to use!

I am on the fence over it as I don't know if I can find one if I decide to go non-a/c and after talking to just dashes they want $1600 plus s/h both ways to redo a dash pad!!

Is anyone ever going to repop these dash pads for the 69's and 70's? I know it would be SMALL market for them but darn it would be nice and I would gladly pay $600 for a nice pad!!

Find me a good no cracks A/C blue 69 polara dash pad or a black 1970 polara 3 speaker with a/c dash and I will swap you straight up. :yaayy:

When (& if) I get my new 69 Polara A/C dash pad I will report back one quality and the source.

Bob Baker is currently finishing up his work with his vendor to reproduce a new dashpad for the 1970 to 1973 Plymouth C bodies and the 1971 to 1973 Dodges. The 72-73 pads have a little different design on the passenger side compared to the earlier ones but the driver side is the same for all of those years.

Then I am in talks with him to reproduce the 1969 and 1970 Dodge pads, but one complicating factor is that the 60 Dodge pad contains stitching while the 70 Dodge pad does not. But this may not be a big issue. If he decides to move forward with these earlier Dodge pads, I would furnish him with some nice ones for both a/c and non-a/c applications. Not sure how this will turn out yet though or whether there might be some roadblocks. Will keep you posted.

He currently has some other dashpads already reproduced as shown on his website:

http://www.abcmoparts.com/

His prices are currently less than half of Just Dashes, and unlike Just Dashes, his pads look just like the originals. I will post any new information after I get a chance to be updated by him before the end of the year.
