Hi all, I bought a reconditioned power steering gear but having problems. Basically when I bolt it together the steering wheel is 90 degrees out so it looks like in turning right when wheels are straight.

The input shaft was slightly different on the gear box but was about to get the coupler on, making sure the keyed splines were together. I took the steering wheel off hoping the shaft wasn't keyed but is.

I'm assuming the gearbox was out of something different (different year/model perhaps?) Just wondering what options or ideas anyone has? I mean I could just line everything up and force the steering wheel on but I would ruin the steering column shaft and steering wheel.

I would find a different steering box, that one sounds like it's for a different application

no idea why u took it apart there

Haha we are on the same page. There was no reason to take all of that apart. Put the steering wheel back together and set it in the straight ahead position. Just line the splines up on the steering wheel with the ones on the column. You have to reposition the pitman arm on the steering box. Do not force anything together.
