Fender removai and assembly tips?

Im planning on removing my passenger fender to work on a dent and to seal the underside of it. How tricky is the antennae removal? Are there any tips as to removal and reinstalling the fender ? I would like to keep the alignment of it the same as it is now. Thanks .

Hey Tom,

It's super easy to remove & reinstall the fender. Just label the bolts so you remember where they go. Do you have a factory service manual?

It will be very easy if the car was painted with the fender in place because each bolts location on the fender will be perfectly unpainted.

To remove that dent on the bottom of the fender I would just remove the bottom bolts and the ones along the inner fender to get access without removing the fender. Use a block of wood to hold it out while you're working it.

I'd also tape every edge on or near the fender before I started. Like both the door edge and it associated fender edge.

That's a good suggestion guys and how I fixed both of the doglegs on the fenders of my Imp. I hadn't had my coffee yet...

Taking the antenna off without damaging the nut takes a special tool. There's some custom made sockets that guys sell, but one of these works just as well and fits everything.

Don't do what I did and use channel locs. I stripped the dam threads. Now I need to get another one.

Took the fender off and was pleasantly surprised. Light surface rust, and braces are good. Gonna Eastwood the backside when I can. Also plan on doing other areas, behind bumpers, etc. etc. Took some pics.

Haven"t been on for a while,but I thought I would post some pics of some of the work I did. Car is assembled and road ready now. Still plan on pulling rear bumper and coating behind it as well other areas of the car.
