Anyone know where I might be able to find a plastic clip on speedo gear? All I can find is the older style speedo gears, where the speedo cable is screwed on to the housing.

The only place I've been able to find them says they are out of stock... I'd go ahead, and convert the housing, cable, and all over to the older style. However I'd like the maintain the cruise control with the current setup. This is getting aggravating!! :BangHead:

so ive just found out that i have the same style cable and gear you have pictured in red (except mine is a green gear) Ive got a 65 monaco and assumed mine was the 'old style' until i just went to pull it (and about a quart of fluid)

is there a way to pull out the cable and reinstall the plug/oring and drive the vehicle without losing more oil? or a block off of some sort? trying to determine if the noise ive got going is the cable or internal to trans

You could probably just get away with unclipping, and taking the gear out, and reinstalling. That way the o ring on the cable still seals the housing. I believe the first clip (closest to the housing) is the clip that secures the cable.

Or if your carefull... Turn the housing so the gears don't contact each other in the the trans. I wouldn't recomend it but could be done.

This gear assembly is driving me nuts. All the o rings I've put on have leaked. After severally tries finally got it to seal, but ended up shredding the gears after one of the attempts. Uhg..
