parting out 1965 300 L

413 Going into 70 swinger

The 300L's are barely worth much more, if any, than just the 300's. L's just get no love. Looking at the car, off hand?

Thanks, I am going to take the 300 apart and use everything I can on the dart. What is left over will be offered for sale or scrapped. If anyone needs little items for a 300 L let me know. I would be happy to part with for just a taste for the effort plus shipping.
 
Replacement block or someone ground 41 off

I think the date code without the numbers indicates a replacement block. I have looked carefully and see no indication of any grinding on the block surface. Based on this I feel the unit has little value as a resto piece, which is what I wanted to verify. I have a 340 T/A block in my garage that someone filled with block hardner, if I could find the guy who did this I would perform physical harm upon them as they ruined a valuable piece.

Mark, try to find a 413 truck block if an HP isn't available.
They have a T on engine boss. They are heavy duty, checked for sand core holes, and have heavier webbing. They were in RV"S up to 1977 I think.

In general, 413's up to mid-late sixties. Almost all 440's after that up to the end of the 70's.
Can't correlate them directly to the years they were used in Mopars because the RV manufacturers usually stockpiled their engines.

I have seen the regular style 413 in early 70s RVs. They seem to carry things over for the RV's, as my dad had a '79 class C with a 440, and as most of us here know they quit the B/RB in '78 for passenger vehicles and light trucks.

When someone is referring to a truck 413, it was a different engine than the typical 413 of '59-'65 and was used until they quit making straight trucks... again, I think '78.

I have a '76 D800 with a 413 in it and it has odd heads on it that look more like a small block head, and pretty much everything that bolts to it looks odd and will only work on the 361 or 413 "Truck engine"...

If anyone wants a couple pictures for curiosity sake, I can take a couple and post them.

Additional trivia:
Mack, at least in the 60's, had some models with a Dodge 413 truck engine. Mack calls it a EN414. And it was put in a B 48 and B 486 also in the R 410, U 410 and DM 410

The Army's original M113 APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) was powered by a 209 hp Chrysler 75M engine which was actually a 361 ci from 1960-1964. Then later in 1964 it was designated as a M113A1 with the A1 on all variants meaning diesel engine which was a Detroit 6V-53. We still had some of the gassers in the motor pool in the mid-70's that we would use for parades.

 
And don't think for 1 second when I was putting in the 4 speed that I didn't look for that Mack bell housing to mate up to a Mack Maxitorque 5 speed....
