installing lower ball joint/ spindle

Hi Guys
Im certain this has been covered but I couldn't find in a search and I don't have a service manual yet (I know, I know) So, Im replacing ball joints and tie rods for my disc swap.

I removed the lower joint/spindle with a jack under the lower control arm - this allowed me to unbolt the lower hardware without tension and all came apart fairly easy.

Im now trying to reinstall the spindle but the lower control arm wont compress enough to get the upper ball joint anywhere close to the spindle to thread - with the jack under the control arm it just lifts the whole car up off my jack stands...

Do I need to fully release torsion bar tension on the adjuster bolts or something???

looking at it again this afternoon it seems rather obvious that i loosen up the adjusters to allow the lower and upper arms a chance to meet - I have measured threads (I have 2" of thread exposed between the adjuster block and the cantilever on driver and psgr side to use as reference for ride height) so Im just going to back the adjuster screws 90% out and should hopefully do the trick
