Stan's old car for sale again

Yes I lost about 1/2 the money I had in it. I like the car but I could not start the car when it was hot. You had to wait at least 10 mins before you could turn it over even with the 250 dollar msd starter. The next thing is that you could barely down shift the tranny so something was not working so either I sell it or pull it apart and spend more money. So I took my loss and moved on.
 
The guy I sold it to thrashed the **** out of that car badly.
We're suspecting he even stole some goodies from the engine to put into his roadrunner, if not an outright swap.
Beat it bad street racing.

Never overheated and always started. Shifted beautifully except for a slight synchro noise when speed shifting into second, and nothing leaked so much as a drop.

The current owner hasn't put a penny into it I bet.

I sent my son with a pocket full of cash to look at it and buy it if he thought it was worth it. I got what I got. I think we all should just move on and if someone wants to buy it just pm me and I'll tell you all I know.
 
It had a hydraulic clutch master cylinder with a hydraulic throwout bearing.

Clutch disc was likely past its best before date then. As the clutch wears it uses up the travel in the throwout bearing until the clutch won't release.

It's sad to think what may become of the car, but looking at his ad, the car may still have a chance.

This is the problem with building a car (or truck). If we sell it later, we run the risk of having to watch some future owner drive it into the ground or undo all of the work that we lovingly put into it.



I was looking at some specs for late model Challengers and comparing to some C-Bodies.

2012 Challenger R/T 5.7L

-Horsepower; 375 @ 5150
-Torque; 410 @ 4300
-Final Drive; 3.06:1
-Curb Weight; 4082 lbs


1970 Chrysler 300 2-drHT 7.2L (440 C.I.)

-Horsepower; 375 @ 4600
-Torque; 480 @ 3200
-Final Drive; 3.23:1
-Curb Weight: 4310 lbs


This is just a loose comparison between a late model Challenger and a random C-Body and isn't really meant to prove anything. It is interesting, none the less. The new Challengers are fairly heavy cars, but the Horsepower and Torque Ratings don't seem to be that far off from those of the 440 in the C-Body. Some C-Bodies were lighter than this one while others were heavier. The Challenger would have an aerodynamic advantage, I would think.
 
and gearing..... but dont segregate the C bodies, these engines were in all of them then. They are much faster now but I gotta say, I think your Challengers weight is low
 
OK. I mispoke earlier. The comparison to the Challenger made me realize something and I went back and rechecked my reply earlier about the NYB vs. a Challenger. I read it too quickly at the time and because it was a Charger I went up against, my brain read Charger. Challenger, Charger, you know...
Well if it makes any difference in the debate, my intention was to say, As fast as a Hemi Charger.

But it's a moot point now because the car aint what it used to be.

I totally agree.....

I had to fabricate a lot of stuff to convert from the factory am/fm/CB radio to the 40,000 color Sony radio. The original factory radio didn't have a manual antenna switch. The antenna mast automatically raised up when you turn the radio on and retracted automatically when you turned the radio off. So.... I had to find a donor power antenna switch and fabricate a wiring harness for the factory power antenna that you have. I had to cut a hole in the dash to mount the antenna switch. I also had to take the FN hood and wheel, inner fender, and all the other crap to install the power antenna (that I got from Mr. C) and I had to fabricate that part of the wiring harness too. Had to replace the blower motor too. And rebuild a lot of the Manual A/C box and replace the controller, resistor, fan switch, all the dash lights, etc. New speakers front and rear and wire those and run them under the carpet. It was quite the task.
