How big a wheel/tire can you get on the back?

Those wheels look great on that car. I could do with even a little less sidewall. It's 2012 for gad sakes.

Right......on a 46 year old Fury. To each his own I suppose, then again your the guy gutting a gorgeous white interior in favor of everyday black.

Then let me be the first, your wheels are too big for that car. The Fury looks great otherwise.

I am certain your Dad has a good head on his shoulders and has made an accurate assessment of his Galaxie. What year Galaxie by the way?

64 Galaxie

you know what they say about opinions, polara71

I was under the assumption were answering the guys original question about how big of a wheel you could put in the back of a 66 fury, not opinions about what we think of others' cars. I wanted 17's but am quite happy with how the 18s look on it. 18's on a dart, no way....but on a 19 foot long Fury, they fit the proportions

HAHA, whether it's period correct or not, the wheels look great on the car.

I'll second that! IMO, anything over a 15" just looks wrong. I'm sure that Galaxie looks great with 15's.

As for it being 2012, if that is your basis, then buy a 2012 car! These are classics and not modern throwaway POS cars!

Couple of dicks on this site.....the topic was what is the biggest wheel you can put on the back of a 66 Fury, and since I have a 66 Fury with 18x7's on it, I answered the question. Then, some dicks with no real input but bashing on another persons car spoke up.

If I dont like what someone did to their car, I dont say crap to them about it. They built it that way because they liked it that way....who are you to criticize it? I wouldn't go to many cruises with an attitude like that, youre likely to get your asses handed to you talking like that

some people like to modernize things. I like the look of an older car, all stock looking on the outside, but with modern wheels and tires. aside from external looks, though, it ends there. I guess next youre gonna tell me im a moron because my 46 year old Fury has a 5.9 EFI magnum, overdrive, cruise, and 4 wheel discs.....

46 year old looks are cool.....46 year old technology sucks

I think these "Dicks" have impeccable taste, as the the Fury looks great except for the wheels. If you can't handle a little critiscism, maybe you need to stay home, as your attitude and disrespect will get you slapped around like a little *****.

If you have poor taste and like your car with the big wheels that's great, but don't come on here and get all snarky, because everyone doesn't like it.

Grow up slick.

Just for the record, I don't agree with your opinion on the wheels, as you already know, but I like your attitude, and your repectful correspondance on this site, and I do like the triple black, lowered plan for your Imperial. Maybe not quite as low as your picture, but somewhere between.

I could care less about period correct, it's the oversize diameter, offset, and the low profile tires that are not my cup of tea.

Its called freedom of speech, if I dont like it and say it your welcome to rebut.

Geez, we have a couple of newcomer tough guys here :BangHead:

I dont care if you dont like it, it's not yours. Just keep negative comments to yourself, it's a matter of respect. There are two times you saying "I dont like your wheel choice" should be welcome....1) if I am selling it and you are negotiating with me, and 2) if I asked your opinion

that said, I quit this site. There's a lot of opinions on here, and little tech. the A and B body guys have better attitudes

1) This is a free country, not a dictatorship, you can't tell people when it is OK to express their opinions.

2) Respect has to be earned, and had you not been so rude and defensive, you would have learned that the people on this site have exceptionally good character, and have a lot of knowledge that they are willing to share. I myself build cars from the ground up for a living, involving all aspects from fabrication of nonexsistant parts to 900 horse Hemi's, so yeah... very little tech going on here...

3) I am also a member of the B-Bodies Only site, and it is the people here that make me want to spend my time on this site.

4) I welcome anyone to express their opinions when I post pictures, and I respect other members opinions, as most of them also have a long history with these cars, and have good taste in cars, which is what led them here to begin with.

I'm certain some of them may cringe and expess their opposing opinions when I section the frame replacing the front suspension, mini tub the rear for a narrowed Dana, and put a roll cage in my '57 Desoto, but you can be certain that I'm not going to throw a tantrum like a candyass, telling them they are bad people for not agreeing with me...

Don't slam the door on the way out LOL.

I do agree that modernizing things is for some and not for others. I plan on going with 17's on my Duster but my C will stay with 15's. My C and A both will end up with OD transmissions and EFI (maybe a late model 5.7 Hemi swap on the A) so ya can't say that I'm against using new tech on old rides.

Having said that, I don't like the looks of 18" rims on a C-body and that is just my personal opinion. Nothing "tech" about my reasoning. You do whatever in the hell you want with your car. After all, it is yours and you should make it anyway you like. Why get upset over my opinion of your car? If your happy with it then the hell with everyone else and that includes me!
