Hi, all-

As one of the last projects of the year before the my Monaco goes in to storage, I thought I'd replace the shock absorbers. I've gone with the KYB shocks and changed out the rear ones in less than an hour. Not exactly sure how to get the front ones out, though. Is it necessary to disconnect the upper A-arm at the ball joint to make enough room, or is there a trick to it? Funny enough, it doesn't seem to be covered in the shop manual, which leads me to believe it's something simple.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Bret

Just jack the car up at the frame so the wheel hangs. Unbolt the shock at the top and bottom. Compress the shock up and pull out through the bottom.

Some times it's easier to take the control arm bumper off to give more travel.

If the threaded upper rod doesn't break anyway upon trying to loosen the nut, you might consider cutting it to get the old shock out easier.

In order to reinstall the (gas charged) new ones, use wire ties to hold the shock in the compressed position, slide shock absorber into shock tower and then cut wire ties.
