Guys, I am officially jobless at the end of October. So, with that, I'm looking to sell off two or three of my toys. I like having a roof over my head; but by the same token, I am NOT desperate to sell. With that, here is my wife's '78 Chrysler NYB Salon four-door hardtop. 440 auto. The LeanBurn has been removed properly in 2006 by the PO. Car has 106K miles. It runs and drives great! I recently acquired enough wheel bits to reinstall the one-year-only Salon turbine wheels with their covers, cones, and unique reflective trim rings. The NON Auto-Temp air conditioner blows cold (converted to R134), and the wipers work fine. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil pump, oil sender unit, valve cover gaskets, PCV, fuel and oil filters. New Firestone 235-75R15 whitewalls. New front brake pads. New muffler. All of the power accessories work (both front seats, all windows, locks, antenna, deck lid). AM/FM/8-track (all works!). Mint dash pad and steering wheel, with very nice original velour interior and 80% original paint. Headliner replaced in 2006. Spare and jack assembly all present and functional. The vinyl top is in decent shape with one minor peel spot (no rust there). This has the nicest anodized aluminum trim I've ever seen on a Formal of any year! No cloudiness or dings.

The car was featured briefly in the 2010 film Heaven's Rain, filmed in Oklahoma. It attracts attention wherever it goes. Not many of these in Oklahoma. I hate to sell, but priorities dictate at least an attempt. $6,000 cash money. That is as cheap as it gets, period. It's not a $12K car, so it is priced accordingly and fairly. Always garaged since I bought the car in February 2007. Fly in, drive home. Car is tagged and titled in MY name. Buyer is responsible for ALL transportation and delivery arrangements. Thanks! PM me here for more info.

--- Patrick

My neighbors would kill me if had 3 Formal's parked at the house! LOL!

Damn, kinda seems like it should be worth more than that.

I agree. I think he should be asking more then they can jawbone him down and get the sale done..
@ 41, it might sit longer because he won't come down. And he shouldn't. I say raise it to an asking price (within believability) to where people will want to buy it.

I thought about that, too. Offer it at six and go from there. In fact, that is what I'm gonna do. thanks.

Sorry to hear of the job loss. All the best with the sale.

I'll see if there is any action on it, and go from there. I might do the local CL, too; but might have better luck with real buyers on Hemmings.

Everyone loves to hate ebay and it is truly a horrendous experience dealing with it, but personally I put cars on ebay and on all the local CL's place ads with links to the eBay listing.
Win-win. Can sell either way at the same time.

What do they say about cases like this?, it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Normally I just do it but my wife's sister just died at the age of 58 so she's not very happy at the moment.

It's cool to buy a C Body that you know the previous owner....... and can ask him questions about the car forever. LOL!
