Fall Fling This Weekend Who's Gpoing?

Hi Chris,

as Steve mentioned I won't make it this time.
I am hoping Steve will bring a nice old landyacht to the show

I hope you all have fun

Carsten

Has someone taken pics from the show?

Sorry to disappoint you Carsten, but I did not take a car to the show this time. You will have to come out here for Fall Fling, then we will take one of mine! But here are some photos from the show, and as you can tell, there were very few C bodies as is usual it seems in Southern California. You have to come to my place to see a lot of them. :icon_winkle:

I start out with one of my favorites that was in the parking lot, not a C body and not in the show - a 71 Hemi GTX. Beautiful car.

One photo shows a working old 1957 Plymouth Fury electric toy car for the kids that was actually running around, and a couple of my buddie's kids got to ride around in it. A symbol of the future for California - obviously where Tesla got its ideas!

My favorite this year was a 1957 Desoto Fireflite Sportsman - a beautiful car and a companion car, a 1958 Chrysler 300D owned by Jay Leno's painter, Per Blixt. I also liked a 1960 Dodge Polara wagon with a lot of options including dual air conditioning. The owner of the Polara wagon also owned the 57 Fury electric toy car. There are some others in the photos, but very few 1965 and later C bodies. Also shown is the 69 Polara CHP car owned by Ron Hurwitz.

There were a bunch of the new Challengers at the show, including many Hellcats.

I had a good time visiting with Chris and his wife Terri, Ron Hurwitz, Bob Baker, and some others I had not seen in some time.

thanks for the pics Steve !

The 300D is one of only 16 which had the EFI from the factroy.
I had one, too but despite one they were all converted back to two carbs.

The 71 GTX Pilot car is very interesting. It belongs to a friend of mine and is stored together with two other 71 Hemi B-Bodys in Monrovia.

I wonder what it is like to Tinker with a 60 year old Fuel injection System.

Mopar Action had a article on a DeSoto with FI originally then converted to dual carb. Current owner at the time of the article tracked down a original F.I. and then fixed the electronics, (capacitors I think) and got it working. It was made by Bendix originally for aircraft I believe.

Nice pic,s , bin a few times at spring fling but never seen the 69 polara 500 , is that B3 or Q4?

This car was originally equipped with the Bendix FI system, but like all the others, it has been retrofitted with dual WCFB carburetors that came on most of these 300Ds. The Bendix system wasn't reliable around high electrical energy sources, so owners experienced a lot of stalls, so they had to be recalled. AFAIK, as was stated above, there is only one of these systems that actually runs in the Desoto version. There is one guy out here in So. Calif that claims to have all the pieces to put one together, but in the last 10 years I have been hearing him talk about it, I doubt it will ever see the light of day while he has the car, but maybe.
