Export model. Some went to Europe, not sure about Canada.

Nothing new here...on foreign DeSotos the Diplomat package was available. And before 58 too. Just like the "Plodges" of Canada, the Diplomat was a blend of DeSoto and Plymouth touches or a "DePlymo", if you will.

I don't think Diplomats were sold in Canada, since we went the Plodge route.

This one may be something less well known. Chassis based on the IH Scout, a few think, I about 5 built with the 440. Most likely to be found in the garages of some scheichs in and around Saudi Arabia.

Plodges and Plysotos made it everywhere except the US.
They were sold in canada, europe and southern and middle america

.......

We got " Plodges " here in Australia as well. These were converted to our Right Hand Drive roads locally at the time and there is also a South African imported RHD '59 Plodge 2 door here as well that I've personally seen .It was brought here from SA about 18 years ago

........

We got them here in New Zealand too. Plodges or Plydo's then de'mouths etc etc. Not too many 58 Desoto diplomats sold here but we did get quite a few Plodges and our share of straight Plymouths and yes all with R/H/D conversions and the Plymouth dash

I know where there is a 57 Desoto Diplomat here I New Zealand - a bit rusty but still complete which makes it an unusual car - Plymouth body with a Desoto front

Growing up in Detroit in the 50's & 60's I remember seeing these cars a lot in the city and across the river in Windsor. Even several taxi cabs.

There is one for sale here in Mexico if anybody is interested. The seller says it is like new. If anybody is interested please let me know. Here are the 2 pictures I have.
I know the read end is a 1958 but he says it is a 1957.
