It's his Dad's convertible that he's restoring for him before his dad kicks off. This picture here is obviously the interior.

This was supposed be a quick scuff and paint of all the new panels. The car was still a cruise night runner....instead my brother started a nut and bolt resto.THREW AWAY!!!!The numbers match 318 that ran fine and kept a redone early 70 motor 318. I recently took it back to finish 68 sport fury since I brought it across the country 13 years agoJoe's Phone Pictures 017.jpg

Welcome and cool car .. Also cool what you are doing for your Dad Joe!

I merged your picture threads together. You can use this as one running thread to document all your progress

Intake specs and sequence for torq down would be appreciated...it,s a 75 318cast. Ran into a snag with my pulleys. The 68 set wont line up on balancer and I,m thinking if I use the 75 set it throws my p.s belt alignment off. New 68 water pump ..pretty crappy pic but you can see 68 set up in on row and 75 in the other..,all measure different.021.jpg020.jpg

You just need to find an earlier balancer or just elongate the one hole that is off.

All the 68 stuff should fit on the 75 engine, you will probably need to run the earlier water pump.

I've cheated and moved (properly, with a press) water pump pulley flanges to make things fit. They can also be shimmed a bit with a spacer. Shhhh. It's our little secret.

Thanks for the advice....I solved things by dremel tool to last bolt hole in bottom pulley, one bolt hole was off by half a hole, everything lines up now. thanks again the willingness to help is great on this forum

My dream of returning this beauty to my father has ended, today I got the call no son ever wants to get. Passed in his sleep last-nite just the way it should be. Not sick, just 78. A car lover to the core and I am so thank-full that. He was lucky enough to grow up in those times when your handshake was your word. A strange way... but my way off thinking of him is...Not a person he ever crossed paths with would go away saying he,s an ***-HOLE...He was called Bunker, amazing look alike and loved and lived his attitude as well...only the people that have seen Archie Bunker will get that. He taught me how to drive dozers, loaders and then trucks in the gravel pits in southern Ontario, and how to fix anything under the sun and to do it right or don,t do it all!!!He was exactly what a father should be....thanks dad..for making me like you. A bit of what I can remember of the cars he loved and carved my interest with are...way back his 61lincoln,rag....63 Lincoln,hrtp....66 Newport,2dr....66 Newport,4drht....70purple,bee,4spd....68buick,glass roof, vista wagon....76ramcharger....78dge 1/2ton....79loaded,cordoba....in 1980 he bought the rough 68 sport fury I have now,it got a make-over and he drove it for years,my brother started a resto 12 years ago but never finished it....I took the car this past sept with the goal of oneday giving it back,...this car will shine again for him if I die doing it......P.S. call your Dad

Joe all I can say is a very heartfelt condolence. It was a year ago next week I lost my Dad suddenly. His 78 Cordoba was my project to get done and like your Dad he will never get to see it finished. I can tell you that time will help and the car will keep his memory alive. When you are ready finish the car knowing he will be in the passenger seat with you for that first test run.
