Power window motors

Dorman 742-300 for the left side and 742-301 for the right side. Front and rear use the same motor. They don't show it for your car but Mopar used the same window motors up into the 90's. The only difference is usually the electrical plug (the Dorman one I listed comes with adapters) and some have support brackets and some don't. The Dorman motors are much smaller/lighter so if yours have a bracket, you won't need it.

Autozone and Summit list them for $39. Advance wants $75. Thinking that must be a typo.

If the motor itself is still working it's much cheaper and just as easy to fix them.

WARNING! WARNING!
MOST of the problems with PW motors is not with the motor but with the worn plastic gear a/o "pucks" . The replacement motors do NOT come with them even though the illustration of them show the motor assemblies with them.

I agree that the most common problem is the plastic/rubber gear that rips apart. The electrical motor itself is usually working order unless water got into the motor housing.
I swapped heads from 5th Ave's/Diplomats before no issues.
The root of the problem is this...lack of maintenance on the regulator.
Dried up old lube in the window tracks and pivot points of the regulator makes the motor work HARD and then rips the gear.
I always open up the doors and lube the crap out of the guts and work the motor till it goes up and down effortlessly.
Word of advice...DO NOT REMOVE MOTOR FROM REGULATOR INSIDE THE DOOR!! Unless you no longer need the use of your fingers/hands
I always remove the assembly with motor attached.Clamp the regualtor on abench vise to keep the spring from unwinding. makes a difference in the repair and quality of life. Do not care what you do with your hands, but you still need to wipe your ***.

I agree, but usually before the gear goes bad, the pucks inside the gear brittle apart. You can replace them easily. I made new pucks from much more durable material and should be good for the rest of the cars (or my) life.

Good luck.

These motors are brand new and are complete. I have a set. The motors also don't resemble the originals appearance wise.

caught that piece in your build thread...how are they working?

Where did you buy yours? Did they have the correct pigtail?

I got them at Summit. They come with everything in the pic I posted but I haven't installed them yet to see if any of the adapter pigtails fit. If the adapter doesn't fit I will just cut the OEM plug off the harness.

F#$&. I cant remember. Lol. I'll have to check when I go out to the shop.
I think the refurbished OEM-style units come without gears, like this one. The newer non-OEM-looking motors come with gears, allegedly "ready to install".

If you don't want to fabricate your own puks to repair your original power window motor (gears), you can shell out $ 21 and buy a repair kit here

Check out RockAuto, they have the gear even cheaper available. And also sell complete motors. Refurbished and the "modern" ones, but with steel instead plastic on the upper portion (according to the pictures).

You were correct. I got the refurbs...
You jogged my memory. Thank you.
This last time around I went with the refurbs because a few years ago I bought the Densos from RA and the gear was wrong and would not work in my 1976 NYB.
Admittedly, those RA ones I originally bought were "Distributers Closeouts" and came in mangled open boxes...

So didn't read this closely and guess what made this mistake today:BangHead::BangHead:

Couldn't get the complete regulator and motor out of the 70 as one piece so off comes the motor and sproing goes the spring!! Ok so best way to correct this now that it is all apart?

Go to your best tech and tell him to do it in his spare time.
