Driveshaft Length

Trying to find out exactly how long a driveshaft for a 73 Town & Country is. :) I took mine to a driveline shop to get new u-joints installed and they "misplaced" it. They need to know what the length is so they can un-misplace it.

Oh man, that sounds like my kinda luck. Hope you get it un-misplaced.........

And I'm betting the front yoke was with the driveshaft... :BangHead:
Otherwise you could measure center to center.

FWIW, driveshaft lengths are in the Parts Book.

There are different lengths, rear end gear and transmission will make a difference.
So we would need to know both those to answer this.

I have a small yoke driveshaft that might work, but you probably need a large yoke.

When I came home from the Air Force I pulled a '70 Challenger from TX to PA with my '68 NYer. As I settled back in with the folks parts got tucked into all types of corners and crevasses. In a year when my father was preparing to move he scrapped the driveshaft for the Challenger. Fortunately I was able to get it back from the scrapyard unharmed.

The general rule to determine driveshaft length is to insert the slip yoke into the trans, all the way without forcing. Measure from center of cup yoke to center of cup yoke on the pinion, then subtract 1/2 inch.
This should be done at ride height.

So they found my driveshaft, and cut it... four inches too short! Then they made me a new one... 1.5" too long! Then they cut it back and got it right on the third pass. :(
