I was wondering what size tires would work out best without any rubbing or mods on my 1968 Plymouth sport fury. The car originally came with 14s. Also what tire would of came on this car new white wall red lines or white letter I want to keep it original looking as possible Thanks again as always Frank I have upgraded to the new 15x7 magnum 500's

I have 15x6 rims so I installed Hankook H724 P235/75R15 narrow whitewalls, but with 7" rims I'd go a little wider with 235/70/15 front and 275/60/15 on the rear. I've seen a couple of cars with those tires and they look great.

As for what type of tire to put on your wheels, that's up to you. As for keeping it original, if your car did not leave the factory with Mag 500s, it is no longer original. So, put on what you want.

It wouldn't have come with white letters. I'm not sure if red lines were available on C-bodies or not, they were available on A and B-bodies in '68.

235/70/15 on those rims here.

This is, strictly in my opinion, the best overall tire size for these cars.

Another thing to consider is one size for all four corners. Makes rotation and spare issues simpler.

Most C-bodies came new with white stripe tires.

The important thing to keep in mind here is that it is your car, so there is really no wrong answer as far as appearance preference is concerned.

snotty enuff, its not your car
What the Hell does this mean? I made one comment, which is based on my opinion. It's not your car either, nor anyone else who made a comment other that the original author. Where do you get off with this comment?

Per the 68 Dodge Polara Literature sheet "G70 x15 Red Streak or white sidewall tires are optional on all Polara models except station wagons."
Not sure if this applies to Fury or not.

Thank you all very much for your help. The car originally came with 14's and the dealer installed mag type hubcaps. It is a green 68 convertible with a 440 super commando. It belonged to a guy Uncle Hulka I love the car, I put nw interior ,quarters ,rebuilt tranny, motor, radiator, driveshalf ,front end you name it. The car is now getting painted the correct green. I also put on nos chrome. I will never get what I paid back but I never intend to sell it. It is great to know that there is a large group of men who love these cars as much as I do and are more then happy to share there expertise Thanks to all Frank.I am going to run the mag 500 with the red lines and put the hubcaps on if I put in a show

Can I ask where you bought your magnum 500's? I see them on Summit with free shipping and also on Specialty Wheel for the same price BUT they charge over $200 for shipping. They look the same but who knows? Just wondering before I take the plunge. Would love to see some photos of your ride...before and after the new wheels.

Thanks, Bob

I bought mine through my friends shop. there was free shipping. I bought wheel vintiques There are so many places that sell them E bay etc you just have to shop around As far as sending a picture of my car before and after the wheels were put on My car is in the body shop and I have not even purchased tires yet. there are probably a million mopars with mag 500 spend a couple of hours and you will get what you looking for at a fair priceand you will be able to see what the cars look like good luck
