Ended up replacing the radiator today. Had been running an older aftermarket radiator I had used in another vehicle. It worked fine but had a small leak after parking it. Put in a Spectra from Autozone. Happy with the fit, no issues with the shroud mounting. The old radiator had 44 tubes in the core, the new one has 55 tubes in the core. The price was less than Rockauto and had it in 1 day. I will let you know how it does after I give it a good run at speed.

Here is your picture of it.

Just took the car for a quick run. At speed the temp.is about the same as with the old radiator. Will know more on a hot day in traffic with the a/c on.

Just a quick update. After 2 trips, one of which was almost 2 hours in 95 plus. The temp stayed in the normal range for this time of year with the a/c running. I would have to say money well spent.

66 where in Louisiana are you? I lived in Sherveport while I was stationed at BAFB

Encouraging note on the Spectra radiator. My ancient 22" one in my '66 Newport just sprang a pin-hole leak. I plan on going with a well made aluminum one with 2 rows of 1" tubes selling for $219. Given how nicely the old radiator has cooled my engine, in Tucson, AZ this summer, I expect a new radiator w a new thermostat will do as well or better. I suspect my thermostat is a 190 F one, as the temperature has stayed rock-steady at this whether in March or June.

Where are you buying from... I am shopping a new radiator right now...

That video comes from U.S. Radiators. Great USA made product. Just wish I could have afforded one.
The Spectra radiator I put in our 2004 Blazer was made in Canada, the one I put in our New Yorker was from China.

For one of the Formals?
Yes... The NYB has a new radiator, but I still felt the temperatures got a little higher than I liked (no accurate measurements, just gauge position) I put a full dose of wetting agent in and didn't seem to make enough difference. That one could use a good flushing IMO and a little more time spent on the issue... but it has me second guessing what I want to do for the 2 door.

The 2 door needs me to put together A/C hoses and a radiator. I also am thinking of replacing the condenser instead of reusing the single pass. The leak is small, but no sense not fully addressing things while I'm there.

The Imperials are gorgeous... the small detail stuff that I am picking away at is because I never want to have to subject them to "plan B" on the road due to breakdowns. I also am the type who is bothered by anything that is not fully working... I just purchased mirrors from another member because I had a cable not working well. Mine are too pretty to consider a full replacement.

As I work through stuff, the NYB is a great test mule for me that I don't have to worry about where I park it. It is interesting to me how much a sense of duty to the Twins and Mr C I feel...

BTW 77 up there is a condenser(dual pass?) available and a partial manifold hose assembly from the big chain parts stores... I am thinking about which pieces I will run.

I also received with the NYB the old radiator that needs a top tank... so I have enough pieces to try a radiator shop too.

Understand the cost factor! Might be an option for someone who needs / wants to keep an oem look with the mopar style tank.
