Please PM me if you have a 2 barrel Carter carburetor off of a 67, 68, 69 vintage Mopar that perhaps you have removed to upgrade to a 4 barrel setup. Would be great if it was working reasonably well before you removed it. But...even if it was not, perhaps it has the proper base I'm looking for. I have a 68 Fury III that came with a 2 barrel Carter BBD #4578-S that has the air/fuel mixture holes in the base (at front) filled in with lead (from factory). Car does not idle well...I would like to be able to adjust my air/fuel mixture so...so even if you have a parts carb. I may be able to swap the base out with mine. Thank you!

Below are photos of my carb. If you have nearly the same type...but with adjustment screws down in front, that is what I'm looking for.

Also: If you have the same type but with adjustment screws and do not want to get rid of it...and you know the 4-digit part number (little triangular tag under one of the cover screws) please if you will, e-mail me your number because I may be able to buy a remanufactured carb. at Autozone or Advance Auto. Thanks!

Bob

Here's a couple of suggestions.
1, I would remove your email, robots do scrape this site. Just ask someone to PM you if they have something.
2, If you can't find what you're looking for, you might try these guys. They're in Washington State but they seem decent. They helped me locate a correct carb for my car. CARBS UNLIMITED INC. carburetors including Weber Edlebrock Holley Quadrajet

PM sent...here are a couple of photos of what I told you about.

From all the information I'm gathering...now I'm thinking I need a Carter 2 Barrel that's somewhat different than the one on my car right now...because it sounds like it's problematic. I should find one that has the lower two adjustment screws in the base at front...AND WITHOUT the single adjustment screw in the back on the body. The number of a carb. like this? I don't know yet...I do know it's not a 4578S (mine) and a 4423S (another that I called on this morning that's just like mine) Thank you for that Craigslist ad shooter65. :icon_fU:

rock auto has remanufactured ones but it looks like the three screw version.

anyone know the difference between the small and big block bbd? cfm ?
Thanks...I don't see the third screw in the back like mine has. I see an extra vac. nipple back there that's plugged. The throttle linkage setup looks quite different though...no long horizontal post for the trans kickdown. I'm not sure if this an issue but the cover is different too...taller. Says it will fit 68 Fury though...whether that info. is correct or not? I sure like the details that Rock Auto includes...regarding how they re-manufacture their carbs. Sounds like they really go through them very well.

I've got Carter carbs 3276, 3553 & 4127 that have the two adjustor screws up front and none in the back.

Here is a 2 BBC that was removed from my 66 Chrysler Newport 383 engine. It is a Stromberg Model WWC. It is not seized but I would think it needs a kit. Been sitting around for 25 years. It has the choke assy with it. $40.00 + the ride. PM me if interested. I am not on the C body site often.

Thanks everyone for your PM's, e-mails and photos. I'm putting this on hold for the time being as another member is doing the switch from a Carter BBD to a Stromberg WWC. I'm waiting to see his results before I make a decision on what to put on my 383.

I am enclosing pictures of the carb that I believe you need. They worked when I took them off the car but cannot say if they will still work. I have two of them. Which do you want. I want $65 plus shipping for each.
