Have a 66 New Yorker cream puff.
3rd owner that had 38,000 actual when purchased. Have since rebuilt the 440 with a lil cam, Performer intake, 750 Holley, 2.5' duals with Dynomax Super Turbo's, Jegs billet dist, front disc brakes, & a hidden stereo in the glove box. It now has just flipped 59,000.

Any recommendations on replacement leaf springs?
Also time to do all the bushing's in the front end?
Doing the KYB shock upgrade as well as tucking a nice 275/60/15. Its sitting on Magnum 500's.
Thanks

Ye
A lot of us, myself included, have bought springs from these guys and have been very happy. Leaf Springs, Coil Springs and Suspension | ESPO Springs n Things

If the front end bushings haven't been done in your car, it's time. Age destroys the bushings as much as mileage. Do yourself a favor and do them all at once.
Yeah I was looking for a kit. It see's full front travel a lot now with the added power. Upper A arm bushings are going now. Any feedback on Addco's 3/4" rear sway bar?

Yeah I talked to them today. They ONLY sell the SIR # 23-905 which is considered the HD version. Guess majority are liking the HD spring rate. Its 130 or 160lb's heavier then the regular leaf's.
It also has less arch as the regular stack has 9 1/2" or arch and the HD version is is 7 3/8" arch. My thing is the cars have a slight rack which I Dont want so I planned to have them de arched a 1" to 1 1/2" instead of using blocks.

You can try this guy in Utah who sold me my kit for my '66 Newport. I touted this just over a month back here:

Great Front-end rebuild kit, vendor!

Or, never mind my damned ego, just go to his website: :www.a-resto-parts.com

I suspect its the same kit as what he would have for your NYer.. Started on the install this evening in fact. I mention this vendor because he treated me VERY decently. The kit comes all rubber, no poly-urethane. Let me know if you dig it.

Nice. I just installed some custom leafs I had St Louis Spring make for me. They are the HD pack de arched 3/4". Then I also installed KYB's on all 4 corners.
The new 15 x 8 Magnum 500's & 275/60's got delivered today as well. It fits Great with the skirts. Did a 6" in the front with a 215/70

Nice rubber man! I'm running 15 x 8" 235/60s up front, 245/70s rear. I inherited this from the previous owner, who originally had it on HEAVY WIRE SPOKE RIMS! Sold those muy pronto and used the old mags he threw into the deal. I'm using Monroe on all my shocks, as much because Rock Auto is running a rebate w them as anything. KYB looks to be VERY GOOD stuff though. I'm happy w the old leaf springs and the torsion bars for now. Once I complete the front-end rebuild, I'll tell folks how it rides and handles. The sway bar and front strut bushings were missing about half the rubber they had, so you can dig why going on the highway frightens me at present.

Good call ditching those fugly wires...IMO... I don't love the Kmart steelie 4x4/nascar look either, but at least you get sidewalls to help your ride. Wheels are an easy upgrade and can be done at anytime... don't read this as hate, I am agreeing that you are moving in the same direction I would.

Don't forget to take some pics of your progress. Step-by step threads are a huge resource for those who haven't been there yet... and amuse and help those of us who have too.

Once you run the KYB's you'll never do the Monroe's again. Night & day difference! I put them on every car I build unless it gets 90/10's & 50/50 drag shocks. Help take boatiness and floating syndrome away. Yes they are somewhat of a trick to install on the front but I well worth it. I'll post pics once I get it back on the ground.

I got the rear leafs for my '65 from Eaton Spring and the front suspension parts (all Moog) from Mid Canada Suspension. I've been very pleased with both.
