Going with cork Fel-Pros, after the rubbers were pissing oil at the tabs.....

Any install tips? Adhesive on the cover side, a smear of engine oil on the block side? Anyone had any calamitous experiences with cork gaskets? Or conversely any great ones?

I usually use the cork ones. Last time I installed them I just pushed the tabs into the slot and tightened the bolts, no issues with leaking 50 miles later.

I use 1/8" bead of sealer on both sides. Snug them, wait half hour, then torque to spec. No leaks.

So no sealer at all?
Some people might seal the valve covers, I guess it couldn't hurt. I've never had to though. Never had a leak before using the cork gaskets either. It's up to you but in my experience it's not necessary.

I suppose you could try the cork ones without sealer then if it leaks use it. Although if your cars been leaking oil out of them before maybe you do need sealer.
