Hi guys,
I wanted to remove the sunroof frame of my 73 imperial to unrust the roof. So I removed all the screws but the frame seems to be welded to the roof in the front half!
Did anyone resolve this problem before?

Thanks, Dirk

Get yourself a spot weld drill bit..
Drill the spot welds...
If you have not heard of such a thing here is a vid
explaining and showing how to use...

are you going to put the sunroof back after you sort out the rust or replace the roof?

any pics?

I've never opened the roof on a sunroof C-body, but I am familiar with them on B-bodies and would be very surprised if they were done differently.

The sunroof "cassette" (moving parts and tray) is a bolt in. There may be a sealant at the forward edge. As I recall, the only sheet metal difference is simply a 90-degree flange that surrounds the forward edge and sides of the opening. Be sure your do further research before drilling any welds!

The sunroof works fine. So I think i will leave the cassette where it is and remove the rust so far I can.
Drilling seems me to risk.

Hi Dirk. My yellow 73 coupe with sun roof is now in Isreal ! Is Your car that car? It looks like your car is a four door? Still I bet you have the only 73 Imp in Germany! The guy who now owns my old Imp is also a member of C bodies ! I still have my 72 Town and Country wagon with factory vynal top to keep me in a C body ! Yes I agree leave the unit in place and work around it.

Yes, it is a four door.
I could not find a 73 imp in germany, so I imported it from england. But it will take a while to get it on the road. We have strikt rules here in germany.

This yellow coupe in Israel... is it white leather buckets and ABS? I sold that car and a triple-white '74 sunroof Imperial to a Dodge dealer in Colorado about 10 years ago. Wondering if this is the same car? How many yellow sunroof coupes can there be?

I was actually referring to the '73 coupe mentioned by Glenn. No harm however, always glad to look at pics of a nice Imperial! I really like the parchment interior color when paired with Chrysler's copper/bronze shades.

Yes there are at least two!! Mine did not have antilock. It did have the white leather buckets. Had that car for 32 years , sold to Russ in Columbus who sold it to member in Israel. Both are C Body members and you can go back and see all the pictures and conversation on it back in 2012? when Ross bought it from me! Yes Dirk you are very lucky to own such a rare land yat!! Its very lucky to be in your caring hands!!

Has anyone exchange the seal in the past and could tell me were to get a new one?
Thxs
