Hello, I'm new to this msg board, and also new to classic cars... this one is basically my first and I'm learning as I go.

anyways, both the left and right turn signal stay a solid colour when turned on, I changed the big silver blinker fuse but that did't do anything. Any ideas?

This is for a 78' Chrysler Newport.

Make sure that the sockets in the front and rear that hold the bulbs have a good clean ground on them. If not they will not pull enough current to actuate the flasher you replaced. The next step would be to bypass the turn signal switch to make sure the switch is not the problem.

I'm not sure... I'll have to check again. It was weird at first, they'd flash fine on my way to work at 10pm, but wouldn't flash on my way home at 6am..? then stopped flashing altogether. I thought if you had a bulb out on one side, the other side would still blink? Am I wrong? That's why I didn't check the bulbs.

The 4 ways work fine.

Could this relay be the culprit? It doesnt say in the manual?

Do a web search on that part # and see what you come up with, that could be the issue. Good Luck

That's not a flasher. That's a horn relay.
No wonder the Napa guy was confused. I bet he was not born or his father was not born when the OP car was built.
I did not base my reply on the relay--just strictly the flasher as process of elimination.
Cheers

Figured that out too. lol

Was at my cousins and this dude with a classic chevy stopped by and figured it out. The blinker relay is seperate from the fuse panel. It was further up into the dash behind the fuse panel and was just a set of wires hanging down with a small connection where you plug in prcatically the same style fuse as the one for the 4 ways. Works great now. thanks everyone.
