66 fury engine number

To the best of my recollection, the most accurate thing that you find for an engine identification for a '66 is the stamp under the distributor. If you clear away the paint/build-up on the pad you will find numbers like "B 383" or "B 440". The "B" denotes the year 1966. What comes after is more obvious!

Yep I found that. After b 383 it has some numbers stamped on that weren't from factory. As someone mentioned in believe it was for either import reasons or registration reasons in another country.
