Mopar Nationals 2016 - Germany

The hundreds of Mopar only shows across the continent muddy s the waters for all Mopar shows here. I know of hundred of guys with c bodies that don't get to these events, if any all show season. [ Gary here would be a good example ]

If there were only a few shows, we wouldn't be so spread out.

Derby guys are not C body guys Carsten, that reasoning is exhausting. You don't have derbies there because the supply of cars is so limited. If they were unlimited like here you may In fact destroy them but again, the guys doing derbies aren't c body guys.

Perhaps I have had some unusual experiences, but I am aware of at least three derby guys who are actually Mopar guys. The derby guys are mostly interested in the 4 door Imperials that are pretty much gone and do really well in the remaining derbies that still allow them. I actually sold one of my rolling body shell Imperials to a derby guy because no one else was interested in the car after numerous attempts to sell it (it had sufficient body damage that it was really only useful for parts). But he toured my yard and loved a lot of my cars and he told me about some Mopars he also had that he was collecting and restoring. I was actually very surprised at his interest in Mopars yet still derbying some as well.

Then, I bought a Chrysler 300L from a derby guy in Idaho one time because he said the car was too nice to derby after he bought it and received it - it was just too nice for such a plight in his opinion. And when he did get some Imperials, he saved most of the good parts and put them in covered sheds in case others could use them down the road in restoring their cars (he did derby some slab sides as well because he said they were particularly tough cars - but only basket cases). And he called me on numerous occasions about some nice cars he found that needed to be saved, but they were mostly slab sides which I really am not into as much as the later ones, with some exceptions.

Then, a person who I know pretty well was very recently contacted by a derby guy in Oregon because he heard he was looking for clean mopars to buy. The buyer went up to look at a 1969 Imperial that the derby guy wanted to go to a good home because it was a real find - he could not derby it. I was shocked at how nice and rare the car actually was - and he got it at a good price. I saw some photos of that derby guys lot, and he mostly had derelict cars that were beyond saving, and mostly ones that were less sought after 4 doors. Here are a coupe photos of the car he really scored on:

So in time I have learned to accept the derby guys as persons who like the sport but also respect the Mopars and try to save the worthwhile ones. The two that I dealt with directly were really good guys who had respect for Mopars in general. Not what I was expecting............................. And they can be your friends who can get you some good leads you won't find anywhere else. Like the one above that was never advertised.

I heard this car will be for sale in Germany soon. I saw pictures of it and heard the price will be around $20k and that it is already reserved by a potential buyer...

That may well be. I believe he is thinking about keeping it too, but I really don't want to muddy anything he has going on. My point was just that derby guys can also be someone good to know and not just bad guys. That is my experience at least.

I'm man enough to take back some of my words... Not all Demo Derby guys are that bad, that Imp must be like - uhm, a save of the decade?

Beautiful car!

Save of the decade is an understatement! It is gorgeous for sure. I would love to have it myself, but I already have a 34K mile 69 Imperial coupe just like it except B7 blue and white interior. But I think I prefer the golden brown color better.

That's the same car as Piot showed in the for sale topic of 53ryder's 67 Monaco

SOLD - 1967 Dodge Monaco 500..

That would make Piot the European version of a flipper....

Can you post some pics to refresh memories? That sounds nice
