He says '77 New Yorker but why a space saver in a car with such a big trunk? I could use on for my Challenger convertible(now that's a small trunk!).

They are temporary tires. I would guess Chrysler stuffed the same spare in all of them that year. Mopar was/is the master of one part in many different applications.

The part number on the inflator is consistent with mid to late '70s.

What's the difference? It will fit... is it so bad that the numbers have to match on what should be an "appearances only" spare at this age anyhow? BTW, I don't recall these in anything but the E bodies... but I'm no authority on the matter.

I'll clear this up, it's from a one owner 1977 New Yorker, however it would be close to time correct for any 70s mopar. The size is a 78-15, the same size that came on the car when it rolled out of the factory. Obviously it's going to be for looks but I believe you could air it up with the inflator and run it 1000 miles just like it was 1977. And for the naysayers that have never see one in this type of car doesn't mean it's not a factory option, it's means you haven't been lucky enough to find one. Think about it, once they got used one time most probably got threw in the junk pile....

So just to keep this thread going....I had one in my 77 Doba tossed it in favour of a matching spare back in '85
