1974 Imperial two door hardtop. Rust free body with good running 440 engine. Four wheel disc brakes. Clear NM title. $1500.00

I sure could some goodies from that car.. Anybody close?

Certainly not close, but I did reach out to the owner. If that 3.23 disc rear has a sure-grip, I might be inclined to drag it home. If so, I'd be happy to box up some goodies

Dang...it was looking good until that last picture.

Pulling the dent out of the 1/4 makes this a parts car? If the drivers seat is an indicator (as it often is) this car's only enemy is sunbaked paint and vinyl.

Of course I suppose it is part-car fodder now that the derby guy has seen my post. Won't make that mistake again. :(

Sounds like a plan.. I too would be interested in that axel.. However, if it's spoken for, there are some interior items I could use. Keep me posted on your plans if any are made. Thanks

I agree...this car looks very repairable.

I love that Carmine hates me. You'd think it'd be well received, one C-body donating to keep another going. Instead he resorts to name calling. Maybe he'd prefer to see it derbied?

Some more details from the seller. Originally a Colorado car, was last registered there in '81. Been sitting for about a year, sidelined by a leaky brakes. Approx 73k miles. Fender tag is missing and has been for some time. Obviously, 440/727. 9.25 disc brake axle. Still unsure of Sure-grip as its current parking spot precludes easy inspection. Seller thought it was a 2.7ish ratio, but my homework says all 74 Imperials were 3.21? My biggest hesitation at this point is the availability of rear brake components. I can have the pads relined, I can rebuild calipers, but I can't find *anyone* that makes 74/75 rear rotors, and we're hard on brakes. That, and a 3.21/suregrip/drum 9.25 popped up local to me.

I couldn't realistically make it out there until the end of next month (at the earliest), but I'll keep you apprised. Someone jump on this and save me from myself!

I'm not burning any calories on you my friend. I think you're a bit disingenuous for coming on and asking for mechanical help so you can join the "guys" doing things like this:

(and that display of the flag is disrespectful)

...and hang out with other hilariously ironic folk playing dress-up in dad's old clothes.

In a way, I find the demo derby guys less offensive. They just get off on smashing cars, not so much the long-winded-blah-blah about "the malaise era" that these guys drone about in their blogs.

But trust me, I don't hate you. I'm just not going to help you.

I would never help you either -- after going to your Facebook page and seeing what you do to these cars. I really don't see the difference between what you do and a derby guy. Ultimately it's just a cheap ride for you guys and the car will ultimately die. No harm no foul -- but I think what you do with these cars sucks. Takes quite a pair to come on a site like this with a 24 Hours of Lemons logo in your avatar as well. Most of us are trying to preserve these cars, you're just finding cheap rides to run around a race track until they die. Yes, it's a free country and you can do what you want - no argument there - it's just that it's a free country for me too, and I will never help a guy like you and no, I like Carmine, do not hate you. I just despise what you do to these cars.

Thanks for the update and all your efforts.

WTH is that all about?

Guys like the ones in this article with life-partners who insist on their owning sensible-shoe cars like Toyohondasans, expressing irony by racing junker land yachts around a road course. This clown probably got extra points for being ironically patriotic.

...and if you meant about it being a convertible, the roof was cut off a 2dr for the race.

gawd, if this is some kind of subculture, it should be put to rest. it's an ignoble end even to what is considered by many to be a "worthless" car.

Figured I'd post an update. Ended up passing on the NM car as the $$$ didn't work to drag it back to the east coast, but I did come across this '74 Imperial LeBaron close to home and I remembered some of you messaged me about parts.

It's sitting in a junkyard in central NJ, so there is zero chance of it ever leaving, but the owner is happy to sell parts. I snagged the 70k-mile 440/727 and the passenger mirror, but the rest of it is very complete. The 9-1/4 has an open diff and the rear rotors are trashed. Leather seats are burned up.

If you're still interested in parts, drop me a PM and I'll get you the guy's cell number.

Nice lookin white parts car. The maroon on for sale could be put back on the road. I have a 3:23 axle if someone is still looking for one from a 74 imperial. My book shows 3:23 as an option. My 74 came factory with the higher 2.71 ratio

The emblems, dash and steering column look good on that NJ parts car...hard to comment on anything else from the pics. If the door panels are crack free they are often sought after too.
