I'm trying to figure out how to replace the blower motor on my '74 Fury, I already have the replacement motor but still not figure out how to remove the passenger inner fender to get access to the motor, looks like I have to remove hood, inner and outer fender to do the trick

Does anybody has idea how this work should be done? I don't have my factory service manual :(

Aren't all manuals available for download? I don't know where but am sure someone will chime in with the info.

You are absolutely correct.
Been there. Done that.
Absolutely a horrible engineering design.

My goodness :eek::eek::eek:!!!

Do I really have to disassembly half car just to have the blower replaced?

I've been googling for them without success

Yes. While you are there anyway, replace the power antenna or you'll have to do it again eventually.

You're right! I have a new power antenna still in box because someone decide to stole mine...

How much time can take this job?

You will kill a good part of the daylight.
Depends on how cooperative everything wants to go back together. The holes somehow refuse to line up.

I didn't remove the hood. Just the passenger side hinge assembly and brace because I was by myself. Then I braced the hood up.

The second time I had to do it ( :BangHead: ) the car was freshly painted and the inner fender was fighting me so I said Fuggit and cut an access panel to the heater motor on the inside the wheel housing.

Of course, my antenna later had to be replaced. :soapbox:.

OK guys - here's the super-easy way to service your blower motor. Start the engine and turn the wheels full right, shut off the engine. Remove the right front wheel. Now you cut an access hole in the top, rear of the right inner fender. I know - sounds like an ugly hack job but no, if you do it right it's invisible from inside the engine bay and can't be seen from anywhere unless you lay on your back with no front right wheel and look upward and back.
I took careful measurements and used a cutoff wheel in my angle grinder and voila! I could now easily replace the blower motor AND overhaul the antenna through an invisible, permanent access panel!

When you're done you drill a 5/32" hole in the middle of each of the 4 sides of the hole and make four 1-inch long tabs that stick out 1/2 inch into the access hole and having a 5/32" hole in each end. Each tab has a screw outside going into a lock nut inside. Now drill 4 matching holes in the square steel piece of fender that you removed and secure the plate with sheet metal screws. Finally, caulk the gap with black silicone. Next time you need access you simply undo the 4 sheet metal screws, rotate the tabs out of the way and everything is accessible.

Just completed the blower motor replacement I didn't have to remove the outer fender or even touch the hood, just remove the inner fender and the rest of the work was pretty straightforward, now I'm trying to figure out how to install the power antenna and get the inner fender back in :BangHead:

Anyone know if this method would work on a 70 Fury?

I always try to ask on current threads first because I know how much people love duplicate threads here. :mob:

In any event, per the 70 FSM, it can be accessed if anyone down the road is wondering.

I was able to remove most of the inner fender bolts, the lower fender nuts, (where the shims are), and could access the blower nuts without removing anything. Still a pain in the a**.

So it actually wasn't too bad removing the wheel well. A lot of bolts, but came out easily enough and from there it's super easy to access the blower motor. Now I just need to figure out the best blower motor to get. Any suggestions? (or are they all the same?)
