In 1970 Dodge & Plymouth made a serious effort to run the TRANS AM series. The E body cars where new & so where the teams. A lot of engineering went into these cars & they struggled with the veteran Camaro, Mustang & AMC teams. Just to keep up was a challenge. Parts breakage was often. However towards the end of the season they had the cars running with the lead cars & even led some laps. Dan Gurney owned & Headed up the Plymouth effort. Here he is in the 70 AAR Cuda leading with his teammate/employee Swede Savage tucked in close behind in his Cuda. Followed closely by series champ Mark Donahue in the Rodger Penske owned AMC Javlin.

In 1966 there was a Plymouth team that ran decent. They hired Richard Petty to run a road course race at Virginia international Raceway. It was raining & Richard struggled to keep the nimble Barracuda on the track. Spinning out & getting stuck in the mud after only 8 laps

Really great stuff Bob!!
