How hard is it to replace the heater core on a 71 Chrysler 300? Mine is leaking and fogging the window. Does the dash have to come out? It's a non-a/c car. Thanks for any info.

I don't know how hard it is to get a non-ac core out but I have a new heater core for sale. Did not know there was a difference in non-ac and ac cores. I woould take $100 for my core

If I had to say I would say it can be done without taking the dash out.

Remove hoses.
There are multiple nuts on the engine side (don't worry about the screws around the fan). Remove the nuts and leave the cover in place, it doesn't need to come out.
There is also a hanger on the case to the cowl on the inside.
At this point it should drop out.

This shows the fan, to take the cover off you need to pull the wheel liner (don't bother).

Although this is an AC unit the heater one is probably similar. This shows the strap to the top of the box.

The factory service manual might help here.

Removing the two hoses can be your only under hood work unless you want to clean the box too, not a bad idea after 45 years. Non A/C cars are way easier access/replace. Dash stays, remove glove box door and liner and unless you're skinny and don't mind a bit of contorting you may want to remove the front seat.

Yeah, even a/c cars can be done without removing the dash. Just plan on it being a long unpleasant day.
