The Bluesmobile

Ahh yes!!! Brings back GOOD times of growing up in Alabama, cruising around in my 68 valiant with no bumpers and no doors and open exhaust pissing off the neighbors.. love it!!!! Great work!

It is, right around the corner...
Exactly! She has lights, and seat belts. The rest is just for looks lol
Even in California I never had issues, ran like this for a few months while I worked on the fender.

Hey Zac, I'm still curious about the final look you are after. Will this be the Bluesmobile in all it's ratty glory from the movie, or more of a showcase, pre-Bluesmobile, polished version? I guess I just can't see you scuffing the paint, trashing the interior and throwing the lighter out the window after all the impressive work you have done.
:wideyed:

No, it will be the bluesmobile in all it's ratty glory! Maybe a little bit nicer...

I'm planning on taking some scotch bright to it, and getting her dirty once the graphics are painted on. It really is a shitty paint job any way. Already got the rattle cans for most of the stuff. Still need to track down a proper color for the P1's on the rear doors.

The interior will stay nice though. I'll leave the prop trash on the dash. Later down the road I'm gonna cut the a/c vent like the movie, and install my Craig 8track player as it was seen in the movie. The dash has finally aged enough, that I won't feel terrible about doing it.

I want people to see the car, and go damn look at that piece of s#it! It really is the blumo! But when they get up close, realize it's actually a pretty nice car.

Been outa town the last few weeks on work. Came back, and had to start tinkering on the old girl a little.

Front bumper is back on. Gave her her first bath (carefully with no doors lol) she was nasty! Covered in paint, dirt, and bondo dust from the d300. Ofcoarse found a few scratches.. ugh. But that's alright.

Took her on her first real trip today. Went up to the shop for an alignment, and get the front end squared away. The drivers side upper control arm was moving, and making a bad clunking noise. Luckily no more! She needs some new tires, but man she drives nice and tight now!

She chirps the tires going into 2nd!

Much different animal now, compared to the old 360 2brl lol.

I am at kind of a cross roads with the new a/c. Trying to make the new lines for the Sanden conversion.

How are you guys attaching the new expansion valve?

I got the old h block (expansion valve) off. The directions in the kit make it sound like the new expansion valve threads onto the evaporater tube, but that's not gonna happen here. Seems like I'm missing the other piece for the other evaporater tube too. Idk, guess I'll have to call bouchillon.

I think your just liking running without doors... How do you keep the "props" in place on I95?:poke:

Beautiful hum to that motor, but get that crap off the dash!

I do gotta pull the crap to clean all the dust off the dash. But the crap will go right back in lol

I've got a new set of accurate exhaust high flow hemi mufflers waiting to go on. Think they will compliment her great once installed.

I think the crap on the dash is part of the blues bros décor. Nice touch with the vintage beer can and cig pack!

Thanks!! Hard part was crushing that pristine can for the dash! Could tell it was once part of someone's collection. Made it all these years to be smashed as a prop lol

Your door is a jar. No it's in the garage.LOL

My buddy up north was dying over the doors when I sent him that video. Really need to get going on them! Just tired of body work/paint. Gotta get it over with though.

It's the new wrangler!! It is kinda neat driving without them! lol

As for the decor, they are held in place with magnets. I have a post about it all the way back on page 4.

The chesterfield packs are actually made out of present day Marlboro hard packs. The wrappers are NOS from the chesterfield factory lol.

The can, and smoke packs stay in place. The cigg butts kinda do their own thing lol. I have a replica 8track tape of what was in the movie, but the sun was not too kind to it. Only comes out for car shows now.

Very nice details! Do they still sell Chesters as pictured above? They had 'em like 20 years ago, I remember trying a pack. I think they were even filterless, can't really remember other than they were very harsh.

You guys be speaking a different language this is a chesterfield....
