i started a pseudo resto thread on the exterior and interior forums before realizing there is a restoration form too.

Since I was so excited to get some picks back from the painter I felt compelled to post them. He has promised it is all ready when I get back next Friday.

In keeping with any good resto, what started a quick driver quality pint became a full strip with jams and interior surfaces etc..

Here are the interior vinyl pieces, painted and then carefully wrapped and packed back in the car.

The inside tailgate and the rear seat area and all the moving seat parts are getting painted and re upholstered in the correct dk gold. The vinyl is light gold and the upper metal trim is medium gold!

Here's a problem. My glide blocks perished. Anyone know where to find them? I hunted around in the web for a while and came up blank.

There's blocks for trunks but they don't fit. Every time you ask for the the hood blocks, 15 people show you the trunk blocks and say, "Try these".
Don't.

There's no new ones although I never asked dobalovr to check the national inventory. Look up the P/N from your parts book and ask him nicely.:p
I doubt there's any and you'll have to look for old used ones.

I hoping someone would have a silver bullet. Damn.

NOS part # 3788 198

I do have a parts car so I have some time to find them. I figured there had to be tons of them out there.

Your part number is for the metal ones.

They switched a year or two later to nylon.
I was referring only to the nylon ones.
Arizona Parts has the metal ones in stock.

Also, I believe Cee body Bob is parting out a Formal.

I did find a pair based in my part number at a place in CA that is on my other pc so I can't look up the name, but your post raises a couple of other questions. They had two parts (no pics) for that number. One was $10, one was $24. He didn't have a pic or description but only had the $24 model in stock. I took it. The change in part might describe why.

On a related matter I went looking for part 3788261. No one had it but one site said it was 'superseded' and they have that in stock. They didn't give the superseded part number. I guess I have to call.

Any idea how I find a superseded part no?

First trim pieces going back on. Thank goodness I searched out and found a pile of new trim clips.

Working above the beltline while I sort out the DI-NOC.

If the ones you've ordered are not the right ones, try make your own ones.

This shape is easily reproducible from nylon or even Delrin for someone with a Lathe. Take the dimensions from the metal ones and go to a machine shop, they should be able to help you.

Problem:
The metal ones are "rollers".
The plastic ones are "sliders"
Different design, same function.
So, copy the plastic one, not the metal one.

Below, are the E-body repop trunk torsion rod sliders.
I was "told" they don't fit. To me, they "look" like they fit. I dunno. Maybe they simply need the hole drilled out. Just guessing. Your call.

But, One: The square design is more difficult do make on a Lathe. And two, I think the round design is the better one because on the square ones, you only use one side, the roller will wear on its entire surface and therefore it ill last longer.
