Big Blue, the 67 Crown Coupe - Managing Director Edition

Sorry to report that I'm back in the hospital. Had more surgery on my leg a few days ago. We're hopeful that will be the end of whatever the problem is. I expect to go home on Friday. My brother-in-law, who was a senior engineer at Ford for many years is visiting and doing some work on the Imp while I'm stuck in here.

Aw crap, Dave! This is really getting to be a bummer. I sincerely hope your doctors know what they are doing and that this time you get rid of this curse for good. Still thinking of you and praying for you.

Late to this thread. That is an amazing car! Never knew some of those came with a swivel seat and a table. So cool!

So sorry to hear about all the health problems and hospital visits. I hope they're able to figure it out soon and get you back on your feet and back to that awesome car. Maybe I'll get to see it one day. I'm about 100 miles east of you

Once again, thanks for all your support, prayers, positive energy beams, etc. I got home from the hospital yesterday with strict orders to minimize activity while the surgical wound in my leg heals. It looks like somebody cut my leg open with a sword. Ick.
Consequently, I'm not sure I'll be in any shape to get to the California Imperial owners statewide meet next weekend in Pacifica, even if my wife does all the driving. The good news is, the Imp is ready for the meetup.

Hi DAVE,
I just stumbled across this thread thinking that I would be reading about an Imperial being freshened up
I hope that you are healing up.

I myself am no stranger to health challenges with the latest this weekend again having a lower back issue putting me flat on my back

I will pray for your recovery so you can enjoy what the good Lord had blessed you with.
A loving family and a classic car to drive them around in!

Everybody;
Again and again, thanks for all the prayers and support regarding my uncooperative left leg.

The only major thing left to do on Big Blue is the driver side rear window motor. There are a bunch of nits to pick as well, like some of the walnut veneers need to be replaced and the foot switch for the station-seeking radio needs to be unstuck. The cigar lighters don't have power. There are probably a few more nits that I can't remember at the moment. Generally speaking, the car is exactly where it needs to be: a good-running, good-looking "driver."

Get your brother in law and his friends to come over - you can supervise and supply the beer and pizza - job will be done in no time. :)

That idea would work if my bro-in-law lived anywhere near me. He's in Detroit and I'm in Fair Oaks; about 2,300 miles.

I'm in Detroit, you can send your brother over to help me!

I'm not going to be able to attend the state-wide Imperial meet in Pacifica, CA that starts tomorrow due to my medical problems. In fact, the latest news from my doctors is pretty grim. With any luck, the surgical wound in my leg will heal, but the underlying condition will persist and worsen. I don't want to publicly discuss the problem any further, nor do I want a pity party around here. The kind words and prayers from FCBO members have been a comfort to me. Thanks. I'll assume those feeling continue without needing to see more affirmations in this thread.

Now, I've got to figure out the best way to sell Big Blue. This is not something I'd planned on, so I could use some feedback. Big-name auction house? eBay? Craigslist? Autotrader? Hemmings? Previously, I've had good experiences selling on CL and eBay. In this case, I'm not sure that's the best thing. Your opinions are welcome. For reference, I've got $18K tied up in the car at this point.

Sorry you're letting Big Blue go... I don't follow those years and couldn't accurately value the car, but you've got a real sweetheart there. Keep room in your inbox, maybe an interested party will be found through here.

As to marketing, I'm the wrong guy, but I always like it when I see the enthusiast's work stuff out away from the big marketing publications. If you want to make a quick sale, you may need to go to those publications.

If only I had room/resources...:(

Sorry to hear this big time Dave.
I may know someone. Might I suggest that you edit your post to not include your investment to date and get a mod to remove cantflips post so your post isn't seen?

Sorry to hear this, Dave. It is what it is. Just dont give up the fight.

Cars come and go, now it is time to focus on your health and your family.

Ill keep my ears out for any potential buyers and send them your way.

Good Luck and Godspeed.

Sorry to hear about your medical issues. I'm also sorry to hear you will need to sell your Imperial, but DANG! If I had the money, I'd be on your doorstep for that car at this moment (And I live close enough I could do it lol)! Hope it goes well for you!

Above all get well, man. Had I the funds, I too would snap that up in a heartbeat and sell it back (with a few extra miles likely) at no extra cost if your situation changed.

All the best to you,
GJS
